Il Toscano means “The Tuscan”, and is a perfect representation of everything I am, and all that I love about my home land in Italy.

My name’s Matteo – head pasta maker, chef and owner of il Toscano. I was born and raised in the countryside of Tuscany, and although I’ve now lived in Australia for over 9 years, my passion for all things Italian has never been stronger.

Nor has my passion for sharing it with Australia and the Central Coast. I noticed that while there are a lot of outlets serving Italian food up here, they’re largely not hitting the mark when it comes to quality, authenticity and traditional local Tuscan food.

Our mission is to bring people together for an amazing Italian experience with good food, wine and good times and share with you my strong passion and our local traditional cuisine as if you were in Tuscany.

    I have been recommended this restaurant and I must to say it was an incredible experience. Although the restaurant was very busy, the service was excellent with Italian staff very welcoming and informative. The food was delicious. We tried Arancini, Marinara and Tuscan Fettunta. Everything was so fresh with lots of flavor. I strongly recommend Il Toscano Long Jetty.

    Incredible food and service! The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and well seasoned! Arancini and burrata superb. Delicious Italian wine selections and very intimate and Italian atmosphere with great music. See you very soon

    I felt like I was transported to Italy as soon as I walked in the door. From the traditional decor to the welcoming staff and of course the deliciously authentic menu. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauces were full of flavour - you could tell the ingredients were good quality and they’d been cooked with love. But our favourite part was the service - all the staff were so passionate and seemed to truly care that we had a great experience. We’ll definitely be back :-)

    Great experience as always. Finally we had the opportunity to try a real Carbonara made with Guanciale. Also, amazing wine list! Looking forward to coming back again

    The food and drinks are over priced. Very salty pasta dishes. The arancici balls were soggy and covered in an average tomato based sauce. The pesto pasta was heavy on the pesto and it tasted store bought. When asked for the pepper, it was put on the table, which was clearly bought from Aldi, which makes you wonder if all the food was purchased from Aldi? Very disappointed in the overall meal for the high price you pay.

    After having family attend Il Toscano, and recently moving into the area ourselves, we attended and loved our experience. The staff were very friendly, the traditional Italian pasta dishes were excellent very representative of rural rustic Italy. The pasta is freshly made and all the various dish sauces, and the warmed selection of olives and meats first class. The restaurant fills quickly on weekends, so bookings are recommended, but there is also takeaway. Lastly the tiramisu made by the owner, is the lightest and flavoursome I have ever had, we will definitely be back and probably on a regular basis’s.
