Thank you for visiting Kenichi Izakaya Carbondale. An Izakaya is a type of informal Japanese pub. At sake breweries during the late 18th century, people in Japan began using sake kegs as stools, and snacks were served. This small plate menu was designed to encourage sharing amongst friends and family. Food is prepared in multiple kitchens and arrives as it is ready to ensure freshness. We make most of our menu in-house, from scratch, and use locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.

If no reservations are available, please note that we do have walk in apcae at our bar and sushi bar. We hope to see you!

We had a great experience at Izakaya for a date night. It is very busy, so ensure you make reservations. All of the food (both land and sea) options were incredible. Especially the bao buns and the Korean meatballs. One thing I will point out is that it is very expensive for the portion size. You have to be ready to spend money on this place, so keep that in mind.

The food is very good, but not sure if we’ll go back because the service was VERY slow, as it was the last time we were there

The Black Cod dish is outstanding. Family had sushi rolls…excellent! Liked the spicy edamame appetizer plus the Asian fried chicken with a special dip sauce. Highly recommend & if you really want something amazing…definitely get the Black Cod!

We celebrate our anniversary at Izakaya and it never deceived. The food is always well presented and tasteful. The service was right on target. This is our favorite restaurant in Carbondale. We will be back!
