We are IZAKAYA. Expect a focus on huge flavours & unique combinations. Classic Japanese cuisine goes hand in hand with seasonal Yorkshire produce.

Dive into our IZAKAYA MENU and zen out in our dining space. With nods to classic Japanese IZAKAYA dishes and honouring all that is great about Japanese kitchens, expect a refined dining experience served over 2 or 3 courses with optional sides.

Our WINTER OMAKASE is a seasonal and unique take on the tasting menu format. Refined, relaxed and unexpected. Please inform us of all dietary requirements at least 48hrs before your booking in the 'Special Requests' box.

On our OMAKASE menu, late cancellations (48 hours or less) will result in a late cancellation charge. Please view our policies on our website.

    We’ve had an amazing experience when it first opened, and were so sad to hear they were closing so quickly booked a last hurrah for one of our favourite places in York. However, what we experienced last night was very disappointing. To have had all 3 courses served in less than 45 minutes, the first of which arrived less than 5 minutes after arriving while ordering other drinks, really dampened our experience, we felt incredibly rushed and unwanted. Cant fault the serving staff, they were lovely, and the food was fine. But to spend over £200 for what was a 60 minutes experience felt like a rip off. Overall a very disappointing end to what we know can be an amazing restaurant.

    Fantastic food and ambience, the staff couldn't do enough for us and had great recommendations, it felt as if the chefs were trusted to be creative and create what interested them and the wait staff were on board also, it all lead to a fantastic first experience that will definitely be now the first if many

    It never disappoint. Thank you for the amazing dinner. We came twice this month when realising it was closing/ changing format: both times it was some of the best dinner I've had. We will miss this place.

    Great menu and atmosphere. Staff were friendly and service was quick and enjoyable. A shame to see them close however we will return if they reopen in the future.
