My wife & I went for Valentines treat a day after Valentine’s Day. I’ve been to Izzy’s in SF many times in the years past . Always had great service and memories from there. I wanted to try the Izzy’s in San Carlos? I contacted the restaurant about a corkage fee($30), they responded with a reply quickly. The renovation looks great. The tables in the bar/lounge look great. We were seated promptly. Our waiter was Emin B Mehmet. Things started out great. Opened our bottle and let us take 5 to figure out our order. Emin came back and took our order & basically ghosted us for the rest of the night. I ordered the Caesar salad with anchovies. It came with ONE ANCHOVY ON IT?? Dressing was tasteless & salad was more like grass the lettuce? The ribeye steak was excellent. My wife had the prime rib. It had no flavor to it. My loaded baked potato was lukewarm and they forgot to serve to me and I had to ask for it. The Asian waiter serving the table next to us, I didn’t get his name? Was basically our waiter the whole night and did his best to make things better. During our dinner, the Asian waiter went into detail with his table about the specials for that night! Emin never said anything about the specials to us!!!! Emin finally showed up at dessert? He also had the table to the right of us & was definitely very attentive to them??? My wife said maybe they were regulars and also ordered a bottle of wine. I work in a customer service business & I always go out of my way to take care of everyone not just the regulars. I felt like Emin just showed up at the end for his tip. We spent $300 for dinner and I always feel for the servers trying to make a living, he did get a15% tip! I felt it wasn’t worth it . Service was terrible. In the future, if you get Emin, ask for another waiter. Still disappointed about the prime rib? Izzy’s is known for great prime rib.
