J Carver's Oyster Bar & Chophouse features market fresh oysters & premium wood grilled steaks. Nestled in West 6th District of Downtown Austin, John Carver, Owner and Chef delivers an elevated classic fine dining experience featuring a gorgeous raw & oyster bar and intimate dining experience.

In order to honor all reservations booked, we ask that all bookings adhere to our suggested dining time frame. Please contact our reservationist if you have additional questions. Our time frames are as follows
2 people - 2 hours
3 people - 2 hr 15 minutes
4-5 people - 2 hr 30 minutes
6-7 people - 2hr 45 minutes
8+ people - 3 hours

Please reach out to our reservationist for private dining.
We offer Valet at $12 daily

    Excellent food and service! Love the cozy vibe/ambience. One of the best filet mignon I have ever tasted. Delicious dover sole too. All of the sides were amazing. Great place to celebrate a special occasion as we were celebrating our daughter’s 26 birthday. We will be back again next time in Austin

    The food, drinks, dessert, experience as a whole was extremely pleasant! I went for my birthday celebration and they had everything tailored and catered. I enjoyed every minute of it. If I had to leave a comment, it would just be that I read the valet was $10 and it was actually $15. I’m glad I had enough cash for that and tip. Other than that, it was solid 10! I highly recommend.

    My group had a wonderful experience at J Carver's. We got the Porterhouse accompanied by Carrots, Potato Puree, and Broccolini. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the food. If you're willing to pay top dollar, do not pass up on this experience!

    My first time at J Carver's and I hope I can go back soon; ask for Ian as your waiter! I booked a table for my sister's birthday and we had the best time. The host reached out a couple days in advance and helped us set up a special request for the dinner. When we arrived, our waiter was Ian and he was awesome: attentive, helpful, and great recommendations for food. Yes, J Carver's is a steakhouse, but they also cooked some of the best vegetables I've had at a restaurant. Outside of steak, here were some of our favorites: the ahi nicoise entree, the hot italian bread, the steamed asparagus, and house made gelato.

    We had made reservation for bar top, but the sweet hostess was able to give us a table. The knife selection was a nice touch. We shared a steak, withshort rib ravioli. I’ve dreamt about it since.

    We had a fantastic meal at J Carver’s! The food & service were excellent! We had a nice table for 4 that was in the corner & a little separated from the bigger dining room. Was very nice & a little more quiet.

    This was our first time in Austin TX and a friend recommended J Carver's, WOW!! What a great experience from start to finish, my wife and I started with spicy crab cake. so good! If you're in Austin TX it's a must do, Enjoy
