The ambiance is great and South Hall is a gorgeous location. We had a reservation at January for 7:30pm. We arrived early so were invited to sit at the bar and told someone would come get us when our table was ready. The bartenders were fantastic!
7:47pm rolled around and we hadn't been shown to our table yet so went up to the hostess stand and asked about the status of our table. We were told they needed to clear some tables, then we were quickly seated, perhaps forgotten about because there were only 5 occupied tables in the restaurant including us once we were sat.
Now for dinner, the parker rolls were fantastic and the greens salad was good too. Our entrees fell flat. Overcooked pork steak and gnocchi. Scallops were good but almost tasted like they were in a Bordelaise sauce which was odd with the remaining flavors of the dish.
Service was okay - we were given a drink menu then waited 20 minutes for our server to come back and ask if we wanted a drink.
Maybe our expectations were too high, but this was a let down for us. All that to say, we would go back and sit at the bar/tour the grounds any day!
