The ambience of Javier‘s restaurant in La Jolla is a wonderful outdoor themed restaurant. The restaurant felt very open air, with plants lining the outside entrance and open windows. The lighting in the restaurant and the fire pits in the restaurant made a lovely addition to the upbeat atmosphere. where to go as there was quite a bit of chaos at the entrance to the restaurant.
The restaurant has a varied menu. There’s something for everyone there I had the Pollo Chipotle. When the meal came, it was different than I imagined it to be. The chicken looked like a Frenched drumstick, although it was white meat. The entrée had a cream sauce that was very rich and gave the sensation of a nacho cheese. Inside the sauce or button mushrooms along side of the dish was a single scoop of steamed white rice and a few avocado slices for the price of the meal and the taste and texture of the food, I was disappointed. The rest of my party chose traditional Mexican food, which looked excellent, and I was told the food tasted good. One of the persons in my party had the Carnitas and gave me a bite. It was excellent and there was quite a bit of meat.
We ordered guacamole as a side dish, and it was one of the cream best guacamole I had ever had. The salsa also was excellent and the servers made sure to bring more chips and salsa as appropriate.
As I mentioned before, the ambience is very upbeat. I think that probably would attract a younger crowd. The music was not traditional, Mexican music. The music had a nightclub rhythm and was so loud I could not hear the person next to me speak. Our reservations were at 5:30 and we left the restaurant at 8 PM as the evening went on, the music became louder and louder. I enjoy an upbeat vibe, but this was more than appeals to me.

I will not be returning to the restaurant due to the level of the noise and the overall price .
