If Genghis Khan were alive today and tended to gallop across the tundra of Shropshire rather than the tundra of Central Asia, he would have stopped at Jenko’s Mongolian Barbecue in Telford for a good pillage. It’s a log cabin and not a yurt, and food hygiene practices have improved considerably over the last few centuries, but this restaurant at The Compasses Inn along Ketley’s Beverley Road offers all the meaty goodness a proper culinary marauder could need, plus plenty of vegetarian and sweet-toothed options as well. It all gets cooked up by what Jenko’s describes as ‘warrior chefs, using long wooden swords on a big hot griddle’. Frighteningly delicious.
