This was on Valentines night 2025.
Having not been to Jetty before, we arrived not knowing exactly where it was. We asked a couple of people where it was and they said they thought it was closed down for refurbishment, but pointed out where it was.
We walked towards the building. It was in total darkness with no signage or lighting outside, and could only be described as a building site. We walked towards the back of the building and noticed lights inside and people in there. It was not obvious where the entrance was as it was so dark outside with building materials laying about. We had to gesture to a member of staff as to how to get in, and they came outside to get us.
When we left the restaurant, due to the lack of lighting, it was difficult to navigate your way out. We noticed strings of lights outside, but they were not on, probably due to the refurbishment work. Surely it wouldn’t have been hard to temporarily wire the lights in during the work, not only for safety reasons, but also to indicate the restaurant was open and feel more welcoming.
We arrived 15 mins late due to not being able to find the restaurant but were reminded rather curtly, that the table would be required in 1 1/2 hours.
Whilst we were inside, the food was excellent. It was fortunate that we only ordered 2 courses though instead of 3 as we wouldn’t have had time to eat them. We had to rush the last of our wine because the bill arrived unannounced with a reminder that they needed the table in 10 mins. It would have been nice to have had a coffee.
The next couple for the table arrived 10 mins early, but were sent away into the cold night, as there is nowhere to sit and wait for their table while the refurbishment work is going on.
It probably would have been helpful if there was a warning on there website prior to booking that refurbishment was being carried out.
Probably overall, the worst experience I have had going to a restaurant, and on Valentines night too.
