Situated on the rooftop of the iconic King & Godfree building in the heart of Lygon Street’s Little Italy, Johnny’s Green Room is a Tuscan-inspired terrace with dazzling city skyline views and an enthusiastic appreciation for la dolce vita.

Conceived by award-winning designer Dion Hall, Johnny’s evokes the good times of an Italian summer with a semi-retractable roof enabling those summertime vibes to be enjoyed year-round. We have acclaimed chef Karen Martini on board as our Culinary Director, her relaxed menu of Italian-style sharing dishes beautifully complemented by Melbourne bar maestro Matt Bax’s delicious program of Italian-accented cocktails and wine and a rolling roster of the finest DJs in the land.

Named after the classic Carlton nightspot that in the 70s and 80s attracted the bohemian and the notorious like moths to a neon-lit flame, Johnny’s has been reimagined for a whole new generation of Carlton habitués.

Enjoyed a pre dinner drink here on a sunny evening. The vibes and ambience were great, just a little disappointing that there are no classic beer options such as Carlton, Melbourne, or VB - this limited our choices. Also thought some prices were quite high for a standard drink. Otherwise was fun and electric.

We ordered a bottle of rose at the bar before being seated , he didn’t have it at the bar so he told us, He would have to go down to the cellar to grab one and asked where are we seated. We showed him and we went to our table. 30 minutes later no bottle, and he was no where in sight, so we asked another bartender and he went to investigate. He didn’t come back for another 20 min with no bottle, they had none left. We were told the other bartender went on break, after he served us. Great service, not.

Loved the environment and the staff were super friendly, a special shout out to Archie who happily took some photos for us. Food was yummy however service at the bar was confusing as there weren't many service points and it got congested.

I like how you can now book for an afternoon seat. The staff were friendly and helpful. Have always loved this venue/rooftop. The new seating and undercover area has made it more “Melbourne”. Definitely will be back yet again! Bravo
