JOI Asian Bistro, located at Domain NORTHSIDE, is the newest concept from Alberto Lombardi and his family run restaurant group, Lombardi Family Concepts. The concept of JOI was born from the idea of bringing popular Southeastern Asian street cuisine for all generations to enjoy and share. Through our menu, consisting of approachable dishes like ramen and chicken katsu and a diverse sushi selection with fish from around the world, our guests are encouraged to embrace the customary Asian approach of shared dishes. Food was pretty good. The service was pretty slow. Food came out quick just hard to get servers attention. All good though!

Made a reservation for 10pm. When we arrived they told us they were closed and they blamed Open Table. When we showed them our reservation this primarily sushi restaurant told us we could eat there but they wouldn’t serve us sushi. What a joke we left. Terrible experience.

As a whole, it felt like Joi was more interested in looking like a fancy, chic restaurant than actually being one. I paid almost $40 for a totally flavorless New York strip, and almost $20 for a totally flavorless bowl of Ramen. That said, when we complained that the food was bad our waiter was nice enough to comp it.

Great selection, we ordered about 10 items and everything tasted great. The service was also excellent, very accommodating and attentive.

I’m honestly disappointed to say that our experience at Joi Asian Bistro was far from positive. We were seated quickly, but after that, it was as if we became invisible. Despite there being plenty of staff and the restaurant not being busy, we waited over 25 minutes without anyone coming to take our order, offer water, or even acknowledge our table. To make matters worse, we had two kids with us, including a small toddler who could have really used some water. It was baffling that no one seemed interested in providing even the most basic service. We watched as other tables were taken care of, but no one approached us, checked in, or showed any indication that they valued our presence. Frustrated and feeling completely ignored, we ultimately decided to walk out. A restaurant’s success hinges on both food and service, and sadly, Joi Asian Bistro failed on the latter. We were really looking forward to trying their food, but this experience made it clear that customer care isn’t a priority. After this visit, we won’t be returning, nor would we recommend this place to any friends or family. I hope management takes feedback like this seriously, but unfortunately, we’re not willing to take the risk again.

Reservation set for 7:30 and showed up 5 min early. Hostess sat us at a half booth that was wobbly (folded up piece of cardboard used to try and level it) Moves us to a booth next to it. By 7:40 still had not been greeted, to the point had to go to the host stand to get help. Told the apparent MOD, that we have been seated for over 10 min with no server. Finally get a server and order our meal,(salty edamame, pork & shrimp shumai, and braised beef short ribs) 10 minutes later the server comes back to try and confirm our order. At this point we considered leaving and going next door to Taverna. 5 min later we get the edamame and finish out water and are looking around for a server to refill our drinks. After another 10 min, I get up and go to the sushi bar and their water pitcher is ice only, have to go to the bar and take their water pitcher to refill our drinks. I have been a restaurant manager for over 3 decades and the lack of service was appalling. Food was tasty and delicious, but not worth the lack of service and apathy from the staff. When management was made aware that there is a service issue, their main concern should have been recovery… It was not. if the restaurant was slammed and in the weeds, that would have been one thing… These nights happen to every manager, but it was a slow Sunday night.
