   My husband and I went to Joya Beach last night to celebrate my birthday. The atmosphere was lovely—chic and vibrant, with a nice view and a great vibe overall. It was a bit chilly, but they had heaters set up, which made things comfortable. We were seated outside, and the floor is actually sand, which I wasn’t expecting—so just something to keep in mind when choosing footwear. As for the dining experience, it was a bit disappointing. We ordered an appetizer and two entrées, and had two drinks each. The total came out to $400 for the two of us, service included. Honestly, the food was just okay—not bad, but definitely not worth that price. For that amount, I expected much more flavor and creativity. Also, the server who took our order was in training and unfortunately ordered a few things we didn’t ask for. We chose not to make a fuss because we didn’t want her to feel uncomfortable, but it did add to the total cost. I think management should be more involved in training and reviewing orders before they’re finalized, especially at a restaurant charging premium prices. Overall, while the ambiance was enjoyable, the food didn’t meet expectations. If we come back, it would be for drinks and the setting—not for the food.

   Had a couples brunch with some friends and we had an amazing time! The food is delicious.. our waiter José was over the top with his service! Definitely recommend

   In a word...meh. We had a reservation and upon arrival the hostess took us 5-10 minutes to seat us as we just stood there without her looking at us and didn't explain at all what she was doing. Very weird. After we were seated we waited about another 10 minutes or so for anyone to come by and take an order. As time went by other people who were seated after us were getting their orders taken. I got up and spoke with one of the servers and finally someone came by to take our orders. There were hardly any tables yet the service was extremely slow, they kept bringing the wrong items to our table and the food especially the lamb chops had little to no flavor. Just another place to be seen and all style and no substance.

   Food was WONDERFUL and drinks were fantastic! Highly recommend. It was a little windy but nothing we couldn’t handle!

   The service is very amateur and inexperienced. They run around in circles indifferent to which tables need them, very unaware of efficiency and proper etiquette while serving. Dirty plates were left on our table for at least 15 minutes between each course, and we had to stand up and find a waiter that would clean our table and tend to what we need. Very very poor service and no professionalism or expertise at all.

   Disappointing and Disrespectful Experience – Never Again! I wish I could give zero stars to Joia Restaurant after the nightmare of a visit we had. My friends and I had an amazing time here last year, so we were excited to come back. Big mistake. From the moment we arrived, the service was horrendous. The waiter was rude and dismissive, acting like we were an inconvenience rather than paying customers. When we asked to sit at the beach tables (which were mostly empty), we were blatantly lied to. First, they said the tables were all reserved, then they tried to extort us for $50 per seat, only to still claim they were unavailable—yet, mysteriously, NO ONE sat there the entire time we were there. To make matters worse, the manager was just as dismissive and unprofessional. We couldn’t shake the feeling that we were being racially profiled as Asians, which made the experience even more disgusting. Joia Restaurant clearly does not value its customers, especially if they don’t fit their preferred “demographic.” Avoid this place at all costs, especially for lunch—unless you enjoy terrible service, blatant discrimination, and being scammed.

    You definitely pay for the environment and the location itself. The food consists of standard dishes, and the prices are quite expensive for what you receive. However, if you want to enjoy a very good time or celebrate a special occasion, it is a suitable choice for that.
