As someone who loves food and cooking, I had high expectations but was ultimately underwhelmed by the quality of the dishes my boyfriend and I were served.
I ordered the lamb chops, cooked medium, but they were delivered medium rare. Additionally, they were coated in an overly heavy seasoning crust that seemed out of place. On a positive note, the portion size was generous—four sizable lamb chops for $30, which was great value.
My boyfriend opted for the jerk turkey wings. Unfortunately, they arrived slightly cold and seemed undercooked. That said, for fans of spicy food, the wings did deliver in terms of heat.
The sides were a mixed experience. I enjoyed the mac and cheese, which was rich, cheesy, and flavorful. The sweet potatoes were good in texture but had an unexpected smoky flavor that neither of us enjoyed.
We also tried the “Summer Soul Chi” cocktail, but it missed the mark entirely. Its grapefruit-based flavor profile seemed off-balance and could use significant improvement.
The service and atmosphere were the highlights of the visit. The staff was friendly, service was prompt, and the music created a vibrant, enjoyable setting. However, I was surprised and disappointed to find a 20% gratuity automatically added to our bill for a party of two. Typically, gratuity is reserved for larger groups (4-5 people or more), and I found this practice excessive for just two diners.
While my overall experience was disappointing, I did appreciate the generous portions and welcoming atmosphere. I wouldn’t rule out giving them another chance in the future, but some changes in food quality and policies would need to be addressed for a better dining experience.
