Contemporary Indian restaurant by Michelin Star Chef Peter Joseph, located opposite the iconic Cadogan Hall in Chelsea.The 90-cover restaurant is inspired by Peter’s upbringing in Tamil Nadu, the southernmost state of India. Kahani, which translates to ‘story’ in Hindi, will be centred around Peter’s philosophy of community eating to celebrate, bring people together, break boundaries and share tales.This contemporary approach to Indian cooking will showcase seasonal and sustainable British ingredients, focusing on grilled meats, fish and vegetables from the robata grill - a core dining philosophy of the restaurant.

As always, the food was superb and the service excellent, punctual and friendly. However. When I booked the table I had to leave a deposit of £50 per person which I was happy to do but when my husband paid the bill this deposit wasn’t taken off the final amount. I had forgotten to tell my husband about leaving a deposit and only remembered later so we returned to the restaurant where we were told it was a fault on the system. I should’ve remembered to tell my husband but I think actually it is the responsibility of the restaurant to make sure the deposit is taken off the final bill

Great food, lacks a little be of ambience and can be a bit cold when customers coming and going from main door upstairs. Overall a lovely evening

Kahani continues to be my favourite top Indian restaurant in London. Amazing customer service - the Staff really go out of their way to make customers feel so welcomed. The food is truly delicious. The ambience is cosy and elegant at the same time, making it a venue for special occasions but an equally good venue for more formal engagements. Looking forward to going back soon!

Good choice of seafood. Well cooked and tasty. Wine a tad overpriced I thought. Service friendly and attentive not intrusive.

Some dishes were too salty. The lamb curry and saag were too salty. The chargrilled prawns were very tasty. Jazz band was fantastic and the ambience in the restaurant was pleasant

Outstanding service and food plus great nonalcoholic sparkling tea - a real bonus for those of us wha cant drink alcohol. Plenty of familiar dishes but much more distinct flavours than most restaurants. Warm ambiance Thursday night is live Jazz - wonderful. Wished we could have stayed longer. This is not a cheap restaurant but you do get real value for money.

We were greeted on arrival at the top of the stairs where they offered to take our coats. We ordered the 6 course taster menu (with an amuse bouche) which was delicious. Really enjoyed every course especially the monk fish and guinea fowl. Glad we went for this as we got to sample lots of different dishes and couldn't fault any. Waiters were helpful and very friendly and very accommodating for one our parties' allergies and were happy to change a couple of the courses. Decor is nice and it didn't feel overly busy. Will definitely come back.
