Kellari Taverna is located in the heart of New York City, three blocks from Grand Central Station, Times Square and the Theater District. The dining room décor evokes a subterranean wine cellar designed with contemporary elegance. Kellari features the traditional Greek taverna specialties, such as our signature grilled whole fish, prime lamb chops and chicken meats, and an eclectic selection of contemporary Hellenic savory appetizers ("mezedes") created by our Executive Chef. The Kellari dessert menu includes innovative specialties such as warm sokolata with goat milk vanilla ice cream as as well as traditional favorites such as Baklava and bougatsa. Kellari Taverna offers an extensive international wine list featuring a large selection of Greek wines.

    My Theatre Pre-Fixe meal was varied and delicious. I had the Chef's fish selection over gnocchi. Excellent sauce and perfectly cooked fish. Our servers were attentive and prompt. The music was lovely, lighting perfectly balanced, and our table well-appointed. Well within my price expectations in NYC.

    We were a large party there for New Years and the food was excellent. The noise level was high, but should expect that on New Years. Service was just ok, but NY’s is tough on the wait staff who tried and mostly succeeded.

    First time at Kellari Taverna. Chose it for pre theater dinner. The food and service were outstanding. Would definitely dine here again.

    Ambiance perfect for the Xmas Holiday week! and the service was lovely. We probably should've gone with the Pre-theater Prix Fixe, but as we're not dessert-cravers, chose not to, and our meal got quite pricey, with nothing to really rave about (write home about) - all good, just not super-memorable/delicious.

    Wonderful food quality and excellent service. Grilled whole fish for 4 and well prepared side dishes. Beautiful restaurant and very attentive service. I’ve been here before and will continue to come when I’m in the theater district. Ask for server Lambi K. So helpful. Kudos!!

    We are not new to Kellari, but that is kind of the point. We visit New York frequently from DC to see theater and eat well. Some of that eating is always done here. The freshness of everything, from the fish to the beefsteak tomatoes on the salads, is remarkable. One always leaves feeling both satisfied and healthier for the experience. This time we had some spanakopita (not to be missed) and a split Greek salad (Oh, those tomatoes!) with a piece of Fagri that was perfectly fresh and exquisitely done. We had a great half-bottle of Brunello, too, from their ample selection of splits, which is great for diners like us who want a taste but can seldom finish a whole bottle. The ambiance is comfortable to the point of being family-like. As for service, it is always stellar and Phillip easily upheld that tradition. We recommend this place to all who are attracted by the menu with the highest measures of confidence and enthusiasm.

    We had the pea soup and the vegetarian moussaka. It was delicious and filling. The dessert with the flaky pastry and the custard and the chocolate ganache was delicious. The service was very good. And the decor was simple and pretty.
