Kellari Taverna is located in the heart of New York City, three blocks from Grand Central Station, Times Square and the Theater District. The dining room décor evokes a subterranean wine cellar designed with contemporary elegance. Kellari features the traditional Greek taverna specialties, such as our signature grilled whole fish, prime lamb chops and chicken meats, and an eclectic selection of contemporary Hellenic savory appetizers ("mezedes") created by our Executive Chef. The Kellari dessert menu includes innovative specialties such as warm sokolata with goat milk vanilla ice cream as as well as traditional favorites such as Baklava and bougatsa. Kellari Taverna offers an extensive international wine list featuring a large selection of Greek wines.

    The food was very good and moderately priced. The service was excellent. We never had to ask for a refill on our water and when I mentioned it was my mother's birthday, they came out with cookies, after dinner drinks and cakes with a small candle with "Happy Birthday" written on the plate. We had already paid the check so they really didn't have to do that but my mother was very touched by the gesture. We were a party of six and our table was a little cramped. They pulled two small tables together but I felt we were still too tight even by NYC standards. I understand it's the holidays and the restaurant was very packed. The noise level was louder than I normally like but since we were sitting so close to each other we didn't have a problem carrying on a conversation. All in all, we really liked the restaurant and my husband and I said we definitely would come back again... maybe when it's not so crowded in the city.

    Kellari is consistently excellent. Great food, attentive service, nice ambiance, convenient location to GCS. The fish is fresh and well prepared, just like a taverna in Greece.

    Server was very friendly and attentive, restaurant was extremely busy and very loud/noisy. Waited at least 20 minutes past reservation time for a table. Food was ok, nothing I’d seek out again. Despite the late seating they were still able to get us served in time for our show time. Getting to the bathrooms was difficult, there was a party happening in the front area of the restaurant, everyone was standing around not aware of the need to keep a path to the restrooms. That’s really on the restaurant to do a better job to maintain. Guests shouldn’t have to push their way through. Holidays are busy and restaurants really pack people in. Don’t think I’d try them again in the off-season since we didn’t find the food all that exceptional.

    While the food was great, this restaurant was overcrowded and not prepared for the volume of bookings the took on. It took a while to get seated with a reservation and took a fair amount of pushing to get our order in, our check, our drinks...etc and make it to a show we were seeing in time. There was very little shared other than they were overbooked with private parties and it felt like the staff was more annoyed than apologetic. Disappointed as I have been here before with a very different experience.

    Food was just ok and very pricey. My salmon was over-cooked. My friend is allergic to pepper and they had limited choices without pepper.

    Seated immediately, small tables close together as expected in manhattan. Service was top tier and food was well prepared. Would be happy to come back, but $100 for lunch is for special occasions
