Khmai Cambodian is a culinary journey that celebrates rich heritage and indomitable spirit of Cambodia. Named as an homage to Khmer, the native language, Mai means mother, which pays homage to Chef's mother.
Our restaurant is a testament to the enduring bond between family and food.

Khmai Cambodian is Inspired by the childhood experiences of our founder, Mona Sang, and her mother, Sarom Sieng, who survived the Cambodian genocide, our menu pays tribute to their unwavering resilience and passion for cooking. As a James Beard Semifinalist for Best New Restaurant in 2023, Khmai Cambodian has earned acclaim for its commitment to preserving and showcasing the culinary treasures of Cambodia.

Also enjoy our new concept Kaun Khmai, where the spirit of Cambodia comes alive through bold flavors and vibrant experiences. Translating to "Children of Cambodia," our lively and casual atmosphere invites you to explore the innovative fusion of traditional Khmer street food with a generational twist.

    Overall food was disappointing. Especially the beef shank which was chewy and had tons of cartilage. They also forgot the bone marrow. Drink was messed up and sent back which they fixed. Portions and apps were only positives about the experience.

That said, we encourage guests to let their server or a manager know during their visit if something isn’t right. Our servers and staff was under the impression everything was okay with your experience because that is what was communicated to them. We genuinely want every guest to leave happy and would have loved the opportunity to address your concerns on the spot. Leaving a review is helpful, but we believe resolving the issue during your visit would have been even better for both of us. We are not a corporation we are a mom and daughter owned restaurant. We take your feedback seriously and will use it to continue improving. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts.

    We truly enjoyed ourselves. Our server was excellent. The food was outstanding! The environment was exciting and added to the experience. I'm not a food guy and don't typically stray outside my comfort zone when it comes to eating. But this was an excellent experience from the moment we entered the door.

    The food was very good. I am Cambodian myself and I loved how the chef used the flavors authentic to Cambodia and put her own twist on it — like the bone marrow plate. We did the “A Tasting Journey Through Siem Reap” with 5 courses and not 1 was disappointing. Well worth the $95 per person price tag! I would come again and I would definitely recommend this place to others!

    Amazing experience. Chef Mona is incredible and the service (Charlie) was impeccable!! One of the best meals I’ve had.

    wonderful food, don’t order too many dishes - they are large! Highly recommend! Shredded mango salad is a must!
