Khmai Cambodian is a culinary journey that celebrates rich heritage and indomitable spirit of Cambodia. Named as an homage to Khmer, the native language, Mai means mother, which pays homage to Chef's mother.
Our restaurant is a testament to the enduring bond between family and food.

Khmai Cambodian is Inspired by the childhood experiences of our founder, Mona Sang, and her mother, Sarom Sieng, who survived the Cambodian genocide, our menu pays tribute to their unwavering resilience and passion for cooking. As a James Beard Semifinalist for Best New Restaurant in 2023, Khmai Cambodian has earned acclaim for its commitment to preserving and showcasing the culinary treasures of Cambodia.

Also enjoy our new concept Kaun Khmai, where the spirit of Cambodia comes alive through bold flavors and vibrant experiences. Translating to "Children of Cambodia," our lively and casual atmosphere invites you to explore the innovative fusion of traditional Khmer street food with a generational twist.

    Service was outstanding! Very attentive. Food was fabulous also. Some sauces were highly flavored and took away from the main event. But the dish was great without the sauce.

    Recommendations by our server Dakota were amazing and were right amount of dishes for our party of 4. Don’t miss the egg rolls, shredded mango salad and the chicken curry! Great atmosphere, delicious and flavorful dishes, fabulous service!

    Delicious food for the most part. One dish (pork belly dip) was good, but a little meh. That’s the only bad. The rest of the dishes were packed with flavor, they’ve got good, original cocktails, and outstanding service. Highly recommend.

    Very gracious service. Interesting and unusual food choices. Servers were friendly and enthusiastic about the food and its origins. Parking is challenging - go east of Sheridan, the parking on Albion west of Sheridan is all permit only.

    Impeccable service. Fabulous. Going back in a week. And it’s an hour drive for me. Almost all the food was a standout. Was a little disappointed in the duck. The duck should have been the star, but was overpowered by the broth. But you can’t fault them when every one of the other 3 dishes was fabulous. And they charge menus monthly. Who does that? A great chef who wants to keep sharp and astound his guests!

    Very flavourful food and kind service. The following dishes are a must: beef, skewers, eggrolls, salmon croquettes, and mango salad. The mushrooms dish tasted like lighter fluid (I’m assuming from the grill) and the chicken thighs came overcooked. The garlic and sausage fried rice was good, but the amount of garlic in it is insane, very overpoweing. The servers were extremely kind and helpful, but you can tell that they’re still getting adjusted to the new space—-a lot of confusion about where dishes went, and one of our dishes took forever to come and when it did, it was room temperature. Additionally, make sure you’re dressed warmly if you are going in the winter. They had a seated by the window and it was freezing.
