   The server/maitre de Tasia was incredible. She made it first visit feel warm and welcoming. She was well versed in the menu and suggested offerings that were amazing. It was evident that the chef is passionate about each dish. From the short rib and beef tartare to the rockfish and tuna tartare, the flavors built upon each other from the base of the dish to the garnish. Between the kitchen and Tasia, this was the best service I’ve had this year. I’ll be back soon.

   Great first experience! They offered us dining room or chef table experience since they had the open seating so we chose chef table. Very clean and nice decor. Open kitchen was great to watch and decide what dishes to try. Waiter was very accommodating and friendly, water glass never got halfway! Ordered rolls, steak tartare, gnocchi, crispy potatoes and braised short rib dishes were all wonderful good portions. They accommodated us ordering desserts to go since we were so full, carrot cake was a fave! Will be back soon. For the portions and experience the pricing was spot on in my opinion.

   Really enjoyed the cocktails and food we got for an anniversary date at Kiln. Our server helped us pick out a few options based on our questions and I definitely want to come back for more of the menu! We ended up trying a few starters: the bread, tuna crudo, and garlic potato soup. They were plated well and tasted delicious. For mains, we ordered the braised short rib with possibly the cheesiest potatoes you can imagine (in a good way) and the coulette steak. Both were cooked perfectly. The short rib was incredibly tender aces the steak was a perfect medium rare. We added one additional side, the 18 hour cabbage - unexpectedly sweet and really good! We got a few distant cocktails off the seasonal menu and enjoyed them all. We will be back to try some more entrees!

   My first impression was of the fantastic hostess (I wish I knew her name) and our waitress (Keeley—sp?). We could not have asked for better service or guidance on the menu. Next came the food, and last came the dessert. Overall, it was the best meal in Old and highly recommended.

   Sitting at the counter was the perfect spot for catching up with an old friend. Our server, Ian, was exceptionally great. We asked him to pick/ surprise our apps and he did not disappoint. Thank you for a fun night!

   Unfortunately we did not have a great experience at Kiln. We had a reservation and arrived on time. It did not look crowded even though it was a Friday night and Valentine’s day. It took over an hour for our starters to be brought out (crispy potatoes and a Kale salad), and they were out of bread which was the starter we actually wanted. It took an additional 45 minutes for our entrees to be brought out—we ordered the rockfish and mushroom risotto. The rockfish was delicious, but the mushroom risotto was INCREDIBLY salty (tasted of table salt—not salt from parmesan or other ingredients). It was also covered in a thick layer of grease or oil of some kind, and was not really hot when brought out. It took over an hour to have another bottle of water brought out after finishing the first (because there was nothing to do but sip our drinks while waiting an hour for our starters), and to get another glass of wine. When the other glass of wine finally showed up, it was served in the wrong style of glass with literal chunks of food (or something…) floating in the glass with the wine. To cap off the incredibly disappointing evening, when we approached the bar to have another drink before leaving, the male bartender shouted at us that the bar had called last call over an hour and a half ago (we had no idea, because we were still eating our meal at that time & when we approached the bar, drinks were still being made). Had my Valentine date (my fiance) not been the beautiful model of patience and grace that she is, I would have lost my mind an our in. To sum up, this establishment, on Valentine’s Day, ran out of bread, ran out of common drinks - to the point that the people sitting next to us were openly laughing about the situation, and couldn’t get food out even when the restaurant was not at full capacity. Sans some major changes, I wouldn’t go back.

   So sorry to hear that your experience did not meet expectations. I understand that there were some challenges with what is an always incredibly busy evening for restaurants and bars.     The atmosphere was great and the food was delicious. Our waitress was delightful and answered all of our questions. We highly recommend this restaurant if you want a date night with delectable food.
