We are Koi Japanese Hibachi & Sushi, a Japanese restaurant in Augusta, GA. We offer a variety of Hibachi dishes, fresh-made sushi and sashimi from our Sushi Bar, as well as other Japanese specialties such as soba/udon noodles and rice don. Ask us about our Dinner Combo! Making a reservation is absolutely pointless. We had an 8:30 reservation and upon arriving at the restaurant, there happened to be 6 other 8:30 reservations. Which resulted in our wait being one hour

Reservations from 8:00 on were cancelled by Koi without notice. That included ours. We had no notification of the cancellation and got there 7:45. We were put on a very long list to wait. There were people there with 7:00 reservations that were not yet seated when we left at 8:20. If they are not able to honor reservations, they need to remove themselves as available for reservations. While we love Koi’s food, this was not a good business move in my opinion.

They don’t have enough staff or cooks to keep up with weekend volume. Checking in was a nightmare even with a reservation because the front person was out walking around doing the seating for the entire darned place. For example, a 6:30 reservation only had us acknowledged at 6:50, and then seated at 7:10, so what’s the point? We were there for almost three hours and had one set of beverages refilled, and the food took a literal eternity to come out. Flip side, the waitress was wonderful. The food was amazing too, which I’m thankful for. Booth was nice (if you get the ones without the lamp cover, it’s like the sun is hovering 12 inches from your face, lol). It’s definitely an OK place, and really really clean, even in the public areas, just everywhere else’s service is way better for probably 20% less the price too.

This place is great! The decor is very tasteful. The food is wonderful. I get hibachi and my husband loves sushi and we’ve never been disappointed at Koi.

We were looking for something different for Christmas night. KOI was a pleasant change from normal Chinese food and had the added benefit that my grandson could avoid soy products to which he is allergic.
