KUMOYA, is a Japanese Kitchen and Sushi Restaurant, the passion project of renowned sushi chef Corey Baker in collaboration with Max Mackissock, located in the heart of LoHi. We specialize in traditional sushi and innovative izakaya-style dishes with a modern Japanese twist. Our kappo-style dining concept allows guests to curate their own culinary adventure. Chefs Corey Baker and Max Mackissock draw inspiration from Kaiseki cuisine, celebrating the seasons and micro-seasons inherent in sushi and Japanese cooking, resulting in a dynamic, ever-evolving menu.

An incredible experience at Kumoya at the sushi bar. Very helpful and friendly sushi chefs and manager. The manager was kind enough to even share a garnish recipe with us. The cocktails were complex and thoughtful. The food preparation was exquisite for the rolls, nigiri, and cold appetizers. The waygu tartare with foie gras shavings and milk bread is not to be missed! My other favorite was the 10 day dry aged amberjack nigiri. Can’t wait to come back!

Only ordered off sushi menu. Very pricey for what you get, which shouldn’t be surprising anymore. Only cold saki on menu (not hot). Trying to figure out which clientele they want to attract with menu so expensive yet sushi chefs were doing shots behind the bar. I’d rather travel the further distance to Sushi Den if spending this much.

Such a cool interior! My friend and I kept commenting on it before we got our food but then the conversation quickly shifted to that. Very confused at the pricing.. it cost more to eat here than going to Uchi/Matsuhisa/Sushi Den even though I don’t believe the fish is flown in daily? Also not up to par with taste/quality. Overall very disappointing because I walked in thinking I had found my new go-to :/
