La Gare French restaurant has been a local favorite for almost 40 years and two generations . Serving old world classic French cuisine by using fresh local ingredients, they pride themselves on still including soup and salad with every entree. Known for their table side carte service and escargot, Le Gare was voted most romantic restaurant by the San Francisco Chronicle.

La Gare has always been consistent but it seems to have gotten even better. The Escalope de Veau Dijonnaise is my favorite dish! I also always get Strawberries Flambé which is made tableside. Delicious! They have great local wines at good prices. Highly recommend!

We always receive excellent service from really friendly waiters; the food is consistently good; we love that there is a soup and salad served with every entree!

We ate early around 5:45 so the atmosphere was relaxed and not too many people were in the restaurant. Our server was excellent with warmth and good conversation. The salmon and sauce were delicious and everything else was first rate,

La Gare is a wonderful choice for dinner out with friends. The menu is tried and true and the “specials” are always worthy. The wine list is certainly representative of a community that prides itself on world class wines. Perhaps best of all is the service—always attentive but never obtrusive.

More “meh” than “wow”. I had expected a great fine dining experience from the reviews but it was mediocre at best. No bread offered until requested. Plating lacked any finesse. Sides and soup were served lukewarm. Sauce on my veal had the consistency of wallpaper paste. Chocolate decadence was hard from the fridge. After ordering deserts the waiter came back and said their freezer was not working, so no ice cream.

Escargot, steak with tarragon sauce, veal dijonnaise, and prawns were the best dishes we tried and would be recommended. Wine list was surprisingly limited, but had some good choices. Overall a great choice for an upscale French restaurant experience.

Exquisite dining experience, one of our best in Sonoma County! The atmosphere was cozy, food was excellent, and the service was unbelievable. Our server Miles and the maitre d were very attentive and surpassed our expectations. Thanks to the entire team at La Gare for making a pleasant memorable evening for my husband and me. We will definitely return!
