Come dine in this beautifully restored Uptown restaurant on Magazine Street and enjoy James Beard Award Winning Chef Justin Devillier's contemporary Louisiana Cuisine.

The La Petite Grocery name pays homage to the history of its home, a building that’s stood for more than a century. The original structure was built in the late 1800s and called the Central Tea, Coffee and Butter Depot. In 1908, a fire devastated the space and it was transformed into a full service grocery store. Later it was most notably a fine foods and butcher shop, VonderHaar’s Fine Foods until 1982. When La Petite Grocery opened in March of 2004, they similarly aspired to provide the neighborhood with exotic teas, locally roasted coffee, and fresh produce. By doing this, we hope to provide a dining experience that evokes nostalgia of old New Orleans. Reservations are preferred.

                                                  It’s a very nice clean place, very safe and has an interesting menu. It appears that many customers were enjoying the place. But We were disappointed It’s been over a year since we’ve been there And we felt the food was not worth the prices.

                                                  Loved this restaurant! From the second we walked in the place was awesome. We were warmly greeted and sat a nice table. Our server was fantastic and the beignets were amazing too. I had the Turtle Pasta and my better half the shellfish stew. Amazing! Thank you for a great lunch!

                                                  Food was excellent…I had very high expectations and wasn’t disappointed! Server was terrific…helpful and friendly. The space is totally lovely. The only negative was the noise level but seemed to be a couple of larger tables who behaved like it was a sports bar.

                                                  What a treat to have a late leisurely lunch of such lovely cuisine. We had a daily special and the braised short ribs, fantastic, even the broccoli and pickled veges.

                                                  Food was okay. Found it to be very salty and portions small for the price. Service was wonderful and the history of building was interesting. We walked a bit to get to this particular restaurant and in hindsight wish we hadn’t. So many other great places to eat….

                                                  The restaurant was relatively empty when we arrived because we had a reservation at 10:30 (when it opened). Folks were friendly. The alarm system went off, but nobody working there seemed particularly concerned, and they turned it off after a moment or two. Brunch was ok. My friend and I split an appetizer special, as well as a side of fried green tomatoes, a side of duck fat hash, the blue crab beignets, and a pickle jar. The beignets were delightfully light and delicious, and the pickles were great. Nothing else was particularly great, but it was a fine amount a food, and we left no longer hungry. Our server was pleasant and had mentioned the food would arrive as the dishes became ready, but it was served all at once. Perhaps that’s why some of the food tasted a little greasy and a little less hot than it otherwise would have been.
