La Puerta Mission Hills is the second addition to the La Puerta family. We offer the same menu as our sister restaurant in the Gaslamp which has celebrated 13 years of operation. We are dedicated to bringing a unique dining experience to the Mission Hills neighborhood which features delicious Mexican food, an extensive agave selection, handcrafted cocktails and margaritas made with fresh squeezed juice.
We invite you to join us and experience our hospitality in what we hope will be your go to Cantina for years to come.

    Honestly one of my favorite spots. Excellent spicy margaritas and tacos and the happy hour is a fabulous deal.

    I dined at La Puerta around 530pm on a Wednesday which may have contributed to it's mellow ambiance. The service was quick and to the point but felt that the server had my best interest in mind. Once we ordered, the food arrived quickly and the presentation was very nice. The food quality was exceptional and the added 'Rajas' or sliced peppers as an additional to the rice and beans on the side make the experience feel genuine. I'd just returned from a month long stay in Mexico City and my only point of constructive criticism would be to revisit the tortilla for the tacos. In an authentic Mexican restaurant, you wouldn't find a thin corn tortilla but rather one made from a tortilla press. I realize this may be more work for the kitchen staff but I think it would go a long way. Will definitely be returning!

    Great tacos, guacamole and chorizo queso. Fantastic service. Fun decor and a lively atmosphere. Great for groups.
