This is one of my favourite restaurants in Manchester.
Last night was disappointing though. Food, as ever, was excellent, but despite not seeming that busy, the service last night was not good, and even poor by the standards I normally find there.
When we arrived, we were directed to the bar, as our table wasn’t quite ready - but in the time we were at the bar (admittedly not very long) we were unable to order a drink as the bartender was waiting for the people before us to read the drinks menu - which was taking forever. All I wanted was a beer & a coke!
At the table, I then had to catch the lady’s attention again to order a drink there. We had to catch her attention again later in order to order food.
The food was reliably lovely as ever - but was served at the table forgetting to give us a plate each to eat it from. Not wanting to distract a waitress again - we just ate it off the serving plates.
After hailing a waitress again I managed to order another drink for my partner, and then a little later - after another effort - I ordered a second beer for myself. This beer never showed up.
After another wait - I was able to get the bill and I mentioned my second beer hadn’t arrived. Waitress apologised, and said she’d make sure it wasn’t on the bill.
I cannot think of any other time I have asked for the service charge to be deleted from a bill - but I did last night.
The restaurant only seemed about 1/2 full, and I cannot see any excuse why it was so hard to get good service last night.
Thanks to the food, and previous good experiences, I will be back. I very much hope that last night was just a bad night.
