Having booked online it was asked “is this a special occasion” to which I put yes wedding anniversary.
The nights had turned very cold over the last few days with moderate winds so to be seated externally on top of a hill (although beautifully set out) wasn’t what we expected and asked for a table inside, we were told we have blankets so I’ll get you some organised, we sat viewing through the menu and the ladies within the group were very cold so I asked if the blankets were available, the response was “ give me about 20 minutes, having sat for a further 10 mins I took the lead and lead my party indoors. (Table already set up so unsure why we couldn’t sit there in the 1st place) having made our decisions on our menu choices the waiter came to take our orders. 1st order was for a steak where the waiter came back with the reply “sorry, that party of 7 (pointing over to them) had the last one, he then proceeded to say “we also have no catch of the day, lamb or salmon……. Amazingly it appeared that the table of 7 had chose all the menu!!
With the menu options aside but obviously not what we expected of (supposedly) a high end restaurant we made our alternatives and waited. Whilst waiting we noted that the waiters were running up and down the steps but unsure why we watched, to our shock it appeared they only had 4 blankets on the premises as more were hurriedly being brought up so we were never going to receive one!
The meal, Well what can I say, DIABOLICAL, soup was adequate but can you mess soup up? cooking of the meats (pork in particular) was tough and not very well presented on the plate.
Meats were clearly from the frozen meats section in a supermarket.
The wine, Again trying to be something they are far from! Waiter came over to explain our wine choice, when they set up making wines, what year the wine was, what it went with etc, except he didn’t really have the knowledge and was stuttering in his explanation.
