In the prelude to Santorini’s global acclaim, Oia exuded tranquility, its population a mere 306 souls nestled by the caldera’s edge. In 1971, amidst this picturesque backdrop, Lauda, Oia’s inaugural dining haven, emerged, steeped in tradition and adorned with the village’s sole communication link.

                                  My family of 4 went to Lauda on our last night in Santorini. We were all disappointed. We all had the 6 course tasting menu and 3 of us had the cocktail pairings. The service was good, not great. The waitstaff forgot my sons drink and had to be reminded. They forgot to bring one of his 6 courses entirely. We decided not to even bother asking for it because it wasn’t very good anyway and we wanted to see if they noticed when clearing three plates instead of four, they did not notice. The staff offered shawls when the weather got cooler to some women and not to others. Every entree except the main and one other had flower tendrils, small amounts of caviar or both. It made a lovely presentation but it got boring. Every cocktail had flowers, fruit or herbs. It was all just too much. Maybe it just wasn’t our thing. The food wasn’t as good as I had expected for the $1,400 USD tab (before gratuity). I had expected to be wowed with every course and was not. The dessert was very good. Having lived in NYC for 10 years, I have enjoyed amazing food and this just wasn’t up to the hype for our family. The ambiance was lovely.

                                  Had an amazing time at Lauda! The lamb course was the best lamb we have ever had. I appreciated all the vegetables incorporated in each course. The meal was delicious, the staff was superb, and we would definitely rank it as one of the nicest dinners we’ve been to. Would recommend to anyone visiting Santorini.

                                  Amazing from start to finish. Truly a fine dining experience in every way. Attention to every detail. Expect to spend a few hours and at least $155-$200 per person, without beverages/wine or any extras. Much more if anything else added.

                                  Our waiter was phenomenal, and the food lived up to the hype. Maybe best meal I’ve ever had, as well as service.. Cant hype it up enough. It’s a must, the value is through the roof.

                                  Be aware!! Only a tasting menu was offered at €155 a person for a 3 course meal and much more, almost double for 6 course and 9 course tastings. Many of the entrées offered were for an additional €55-€75 more per person. We were were stunned since open tables showed only a traditional menu. Now we are out $500, after one of the cheapest bottles of wine in the menu and a waiter who insisted we not have anything the same and switched my husbands appetizer. There are many beautiful restaurants that have the same view as Louda, but have an honest menu. Be ready for about 80 steps down too.

                                  The menu on this app does not watch what was offered in person. The food was very disgusting. I’d literally prefer McDonald’s or a gyro 100x than what we got. The presentation was pretty, but the taste of the food , portion size & price were disposable. Very bad. Do not recommend going there.

                                  Everything was perfect from start to finish. First off the service was extremely professional. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and helpful. All the waiters and the chef de rang were kind and attentive, and I was surprised at how knowledgeable they were about all of the ingredients in each dish. The food was excellent. It started with a truly amazing amuse-bouche that included several small plates. All courses were cooked to perfection with great and surprising flavors. And of course, the view was stunning; almost every table had a great view. Highly recommended. Probably the best dining experience in Santorini.

                                  Amazing amazing view, romantic atmosphere. The amuse bouche was unreal (they bring 6 different tasters over!), the service was second to none, so so good and attentive from absolutely everyone who worked there. The reason for not giving this 5 stars across the board is firstly the food was very good and presented beautifully but it wasn’t unbelievable and for the prices I’d expect a taste sensation. We eat at a lot of fine dining restaurants and the yellowtail for example I’ve had much better at several high end Japanese restaurants, the quality of the fish was great here but the dressing didn’t complement it as well as it could, it wasn’t super flavourful. The red bream fish for my main course was again nice and very well cook, but it didn’t excite the taste buds. Secondly the wine was excellent but the measures absolutely tiny, not even 125ml for a €29 glass of wine, we did really love the Greek rose recommendation though. In summary I would still recommend this restaurant if you want romance and a stunning view, and you’ll enjoy the food but it won’t be a meal you’ll talk about for years to come
