Located just a stone's throw from the Hôtel de Ville and the Marais district, Le Coupe Gorge restaurant, with its antique parquet flooring, dressed stonework and red velvet banquettes, exudes the flavour of old Paris and the pleasures of fine dining. The restaurant was founded in 1895 on rue de la Coutellerie, a street that owes its name to the many active cutlers. Its current name is more recent, no doubt due to the offbeat humour of one of its previous owners! Far from being a trap, Le Coupe Gorge offers a warm atmosphere, typical of old Parisian establishments, and a friendly welcome.

                                                                  En comparaison avec les avis en lignes, j'avoue une petite déception. Le restaurant est calme, peu spacieux, certaines tables sont vraiment petites. L'accueil est correct, sans plus. Les plats sont peu relevés, et assez peu originaux,, et clairement peu généreux. Les prix sont corrects au regard de la localisation et des prestations. Bref, rien d'exceptionnel, mais rien de rédhibitoire non plus.

                                                                  Un resto typique, sympatique dans un décor de bistronomie parisien: petite table conviviale suffisamment espacée, dès assiettes agréables au regard et au goût. Des quantités suffisantes. Le service est rapide, les plats sont maison avec de très bons desserts. Bref, un bon moment pour un anniversaire

                                                                  Travelled with my family to Paris from US for NYE. Based on reviews booked a 4 course dinner here. This was an expensive night and this food was very disappointing at any price. Staff was very friendly and helpful which saved the evening.

                                                                  We reserved Le Coupe Gorge for New Year’s Eve and paid the required €116 per person charge for cold veloute, room temp scallops and a small slice of very nice rare beef sitting on top of a bed of the pieces of meat that fall off a roast - all on top of mashed potatoes. Dessert was some kind of berry and whipped cream cake that was ok. No alcohol was included, not even a free champagne toast. Service was great and the atmosphere was awesome, but I feel they could have executed the menu better - especially considering everyone received the same meal. NYE in Paris was my least favorite meal of my three nights there. I would be interested to see if they do better when food is prepared to order.
