Le Yaca began in 1964 in Courchevel, a tiny, country village in the French Alps. Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans, they told the hopeful restaurateurs they were crazy to think people would drive eight kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner. Daniele and Gerard hesitated for three months and then decided, “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “il n’y a qu’a le faire,” which basically means, “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag, but the name caught on with customers who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States and opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg. Daniel Abid bought Le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge," and to top it all off, “Alain Ducass

    Upscale but not at all pretentious, well prepared French-inspired dishes made from fresh ingredients and nicely presented, superb and personable service in an attractive setting make this a perfect choice for a special occasion.

    The food was ok. My beef Wellington was ok. I’ve had better. But the onion soup, and desert was great.

    Visited La Yaca for a birthday celebration while in Williamsburg. As always, it was a wonderful experience! The atmosphere, service and food were all on point. We enjoy the variety of selections for drinks, wine, entrees, and dessert. Whether out for a date night or special occasion, LaYaca is a must do!

    What a great place. The brunch menu is absolutely fantastic - what an amazing choice of delicacies. It is a white tablecloth restaurant with a homey casual feel and outstanding food. Although it is maybe a bit more expensive than some restaurants, the food and the experience is well worth it. Definitely French, so be sure to check out the menu ahead of time if you are not familiar with French food.

    Always a pleasure to dine at La Yaca, whether it’s with family, friends, or a business dinner! One of very few restaurants in Williamsburg that is worth eating at!
