   Lovely experience. The 5 course tasting menu was full of surprises and absolutely delicious. Ambience was great and the service was faultless.

   We really enjoyed our tasting menu at Legacy - the ambience was lovely and the staff were excellent, making us feel very welcome and explaining the different menus and wines. We had the ‘stone’ menu with the related wine pairing, and each item was delicious and filling. It was, unsurprisingly, very expensive so a very special event and not something we could do very often.

   Not really convinced that the “stone, water, steel” have any valid thematic meaning as (only slightly) different tasting menus but the food is excellent. Over-explaining food and wine seems a trend at the moment so I can’t downmark for that, particularly when done well and with knowledge, enthusiasm and humour. Some genuinely terrific dishes here - scallop; the rhubarb, apparently only me. And the unexpected petit fours: negroni jelly!

   Great experience albeit expensive. Service first class, wine pairing very good and even though only 2 other tables occupied good atmosphere. We went for the 9 course option - lots of choice/variation and the food was very good. There were 2 outstanding dishes and my only small criticism is more of the dishes could have been at that level.

   First night of new menu. As always the food was fabulous and the service exemplary. I don’t think the decor of the restaurant can be beaten by anything else in York or the surrounding areas.

   Tasing menu was aesthetically great. A couple of the dishes not to my taste, and a mushroom gel course really not pleasant, nobody likes that one. A few things let them down. Cold monkfish course. Bread with fennel which was overpoweringly strong. All hot dishes could be served hotter. Standout was pasta and/or veal course.

   We had the most amazing evening. Our first Michelin style tasting menu meal. There are no words to describe how incredible it was. The food was incredible, different and unlike anything we'd ever eaten before. The wine pairings were amazing and the sommelier was so attentive, telling all about the wine and why it went with the meal. The explanations of the meal were very fun and they helped us to understand what we were eating. The evening was incredible.
