We had heard good things about Leila and were excited to have Moroccan food in Kaimuki--there hasnʻt been any in a long time. We were ready for the prix fixe menu, and we really enjoyed the seven salads, local vegetables, and bread. We ordered the lamb for two and couscous. My partner liked it; unfortunately i found the lamb too salty. My partner had one piece of lamb that was too salty, but only one, meaning the salt was distributed unevenly in the dish--something one would not expect. The presentation was beautiful, but it is hard to get at the jus with squash. There was one dessert, and i found it way too busy with too many flavors and yet missing the cardamon in the zabaglione. We got the wine pairings: the rose was delightful, the Moroccon red just good, and the Madeira excellent. The service was excellent throughout, but i wish i could have said the same about the food. The music was a little loud for out taste, but it did not interfere with conversation. Overall a pleasant but uneven experience. We went there to celebrate a family milestone, and being at Leila was good, but the quality of the meal was not what i was hoping for.
