Alfonso Salazar, better known as “Dirty Al” originally started shrimping as a young man with his father and 6 brothers. In 2003, he and his youngest son, Cameron, who graduated from Culinary School, transformed his bait stand into a restaurant where together they have been known for having “The World’s Best Fried Shrimp”! In 2005, his other two sons returned home to help grow the business. To this day, they now own 7 restaurants on beautiful South Padre Island and across the valley and continue to bring only the “best” Gulf Seafood to each customer’s table.

Called two different times starting 2 days before to confirm they were open on Christmas Eve. No response. They were not on the City's list of open restaurants and open table had them open on Christmas and they were not. Justifying the consideration of a confirmation. A confirmation was requested twice and they did not call back. After being seated we waited calmly quite a while. Did not know who waiter was. Asked multiple times with a great big "excuse me" that he could hear and he deliberately and rudely ignored us. It was so obvious that it was truly very upsetting. Food: asparagus was hard and stringy, terrible selection from market and should not even be fed to people. They do not know how to prepare the asparagus by breaking off the hard end. Broccoli was not cooked at all, totally raw. Lamb chops, which you can't mess up, were poorest meat selection and flavor I have ever had and I have eaten a bunch of lamb chops. Glad I did not order steak! Nothing spectacular about any of the food! Very disappointed. Very dark restaurant. You can not see the food you are eating! Multiple times I got mouth full of fat that I had to take out of mouth! Gross! Was pushed to order fast because of how busy they were. We refused and ordered in segments so we could eat and enjoy our time without being rushed. Waiter did not like us controlling the flow of our food! Hopefully, this was an anomaly. There are many high quality restaurants in S Padre that do not have these problems!

                                                                                                                                                Wow, this is the best food I’ve had on the island. Had the bone-in rib eye with the stuffed flounder and highly recommend both. Service was outstanding & the atmosphere and ambiance were top tier. Look forward to another visit!

                                                                                                                                                We booked a table for 10 for our 16-year-old‘s birthday. They were very accommodating with us changing the time. The service was excellent and overall very fast. We really enjoyed the appetizers. The bread was excellent. Overall, for the amount of food we received and ordered For 10 people the price point was good. They allowed us to bring our own cake and provided plates and utensils. The outside at night provides beautiful dining .

                                                                                                                                                My wife and I enjoyed Liam’s. We started with the cooked Oyster sample plate of 9 (3 oysters Rockefeller, 3 oysters garlic parmesan, and 3 oysters chipotle). The oysters were excellent. They also brought out some garlic bread which was very good and quite handy to sop up some of the sauce left in the oyster shells. For our main courses, my wife had the Mussette Snapper and I had the Mahi Mahi Ixtapa. We both enjoyed our dishes. The serving size of the dinners, which included rice and broccoli, was quite ample. Unfortunately, we had no room left to try their Chocolate Bomb dessert which another table ordered and which, with the finishing touches made at the table, looked spectacular. The wait staff was attentive and helpful. For a restaurant that deals in both beef and seafood, I found the wine list to be somewhat biased towards red wines and a little light on white wines. They did have a Vinho Verde from Portugal which was good and reasonably priced. We could have asked for a table next to the window overlooking the Laguna Madre but didn’t since the weather was not cooperating to provide a clear evening view. Overall, a very pleasant dinner and worthy of a return visit.

                                                                                                                                                We enjoyed everything except the food all came out at once and very quickly- we weren't even there an hour and we had salad, main meal and dessert. We would have appreciated a chance to enjoy it.
