My partner and I were looking forward to visiting The little Rose as we do each year year for our anniversary.
Each year, the service, food, atmosphere and the menu was spectacular.
The sea food menu which we always loved was all but gone this year which always stood out for us as the reason to choose little rose.
Unfortunately this year, we had to leave the restaurant before our food arrived, we waited for half an hour hour to get our first drink, my partner’s drink was wrong, the owner proceeded to confront my partner about it and was very rude, which left my partner having to highlight what part of the drinks menu she ordered from to the owner. My partner ordered a non alcoholic beverage from the soft drinks list as she was not drinking but was given an alcoholic drink. It was a small error which was easily rectifiable, with just changing the drink and apologising, however an unnecessary confrontation ensued and the owner walking away whilst my partner was mid sentence.
The pinot Grigio bottle was cheap, tasted watered down. When looking at the make of the bottle we were getting charged £29.30 for a bottle of wine that was £5.33 from the shops the price was overly exaggerated, you could tell by the taste of the wine. We were not offered to taste the wine before proceeding.
The staff seemed very apologetic and constantly referred to the owner, but it was the owners attitude towards us and some of the concerns we raised that led us to walking out prior to the food arriving.
We kindly offered to pay for our wine however we had to walk out of the restaurant which my partner and I have never done before.
We also note the restaurant usually has full tables however this visit we were the only table of customers in the restaurant area, the other table was the owner/manager. We understand delay or miscommunication when busy but when no one else is there to serve this shouldn’t have been an issue.
We really do have high hopes for the little rose to improve.
