Located in the heart of Cambridge, opposite the Fitzwilliam Museum, this beautiful gastro-pub boasts historical charm and a delicious menu to complement the surroundings. Dating back 500 years, original features including exposed beams and interconnecting dining rooms are still intact and provide a wonderful setting for guests to enjoy.

The menu boasts expertly prepared gastro-pub style food, made using quality-sourced ingredients including steaks from renowned Scottish butcher John Gilmour, alongside a variety of fresh seafood. Plus a fully stocked bar including a carefully curated wine list and a range of seasonal cocktails.

    My partner and I were looking forward to visiting The little Rose as we do each year year for our anniversary. Each year, the service, food, atmosphere and the menu was spectacular. The sea food menu which we always loved was all but gone this year which always stood out for us as the reason to choose little rose. Unfortunately this year, we had to leave the restaurant before our food arrived, we waited for half an hour hour to get our first drink, my partner’s drink was wrong, the owner proceeded to confront my partner about it and was very rude, which left my partner having to highlight what part of the drinks menu she ordered from to the owner. My partner ordered a non alcoholic beverage from the soft drinks list as she was not drinking but was given an alcoholic drink. It was a small error which was easily rectifiable, with just changing the drink and apologising, however an unnecessary confrontation ensued and the owner walking away whilst my partner was mid sentence. The pinot Grigio bottle was cheap, tasted watered down. When looking at the make of the bottle we were getting charged £29.30 for a bottle of wine that was £5.33 from the shops the price was overly exaggerated, you could tell by the taste of the wine. We were not offered to taste the wine before proceeding. The staff seemed very apologetic and constantly referred to the owner, but it was the owners attitude towards us and some of the concerns we raised that led us to walking out prior to the food arriving. We kindly offered to pay for our wine however we had to walk out of the restaurant which my partner and I have never done before. We also note the restaurant usually has full tables however this visit we were the only table of customers in the restaurant area, the other table was the owner/manager. We understand delay or miscommunication when busy but when no one else is there to serve this shouldn’t have been an issue. We really do have high hopes for the little rose to improve.

    Food was superb and definitely worth visiting. Only negative was there was just one waitress working on her own. Not sure if lunch was busier than expected but this meant service wasn't as good as it usually is. This could have been a one off though absence of other staff.

    Not really a pub and not really a restaurant. More of a Harvester. Over cooked expensive food, no draught beer (in a pub???). Staff lovely but there was very little atmosphere. This place advertises itself as a cut above - it certainly isn’t. Bring back Loch Fyne. Tried this place twice now and will not be going there again. Browns just down the road represents much better value for money. Sad.

    Our waitress was lovely but the manager/maitre d argued when I asked about my Chicken Kyiv being totally over cooked and burnt. She reluctantly agreed to bring me another dish, but beforehand suggested I ordered something else from the menu. She tried to make up for her manner as I am sure she could see how irritated I was but unfortunately the damage was already done. I doubt we will visit again

    Booked as a treat for our anniversary, one staff member very friendly and engaging on arrival, but really that was it! Underwhelmed is best description, of something that could have been so much better! Food was OK but again looked so promising on the menus, dish and chips included a small side of mushy peas nothing more than a ketchup dish worth! Very expensive for what we received! Finally, how can a larger shandy cost more than a full pint of lager?
