I come here every few weeks since the summer. I’ve always enjoyed it and given 5 stars. It’s a very nice and unique place with amazing customer service.
The last couple of times have been so loud that I have to request to sit side by side with my friends. Once a few weeks ago, the waitress did turn the volume down and we really appreciated it.
Unfortunately, last night, was a difficult. First, the heater blasted in my face. When I asked for it to be turned down, the waitress was reluctant and said she would try. I was grateful that it was turned down but I was not comfortable that I was told if she couldn’t get it turned down, there was nothing she could do. Because of course there would be. She could move us to a different table, right? But also when a restaurant is crowded, no one complains it is too cold so why would this be a problem to begin with?
As anticipated, the music was so loud, my friend had to ask our waiter to turn the volume down even sitting side by side. This was her very first time at Lonely Mouth. She was looking forward to it. However, after a couple of requests, we had to leave without finishing our food. It took us so long to order and eat because we were busy shouting at each other and putting our ears to each others mouths to hear. I haven’t seen my friend for two years. So we left in a hurry and sat on her car for 2 hours just talking and catching up without food, or ambience.
I must say, that was a unique and unexpected negative experience. There are restaurants that I have stopped coming to for 1-2 years due to noise and wait staff being reluctant to make our experience special. I write reviews and they don’t change. I even request for a booth seat so we can sit side by side to hear better. I’m sure it doesn’t matter to a restaurant when someone complains about noise. But please know that at least a dozen of my friends do not wish to return to Lonely Mouth due to noise. Conversations are important.
