Longhorn smokehouse is new restaurant located within Wrest Point.

We’re taking a modern approach to the traditional flavours and ‘low and slow method’ of Southern American BBQ. Sink your teeth into the best grilled, smoked, and baked meats, sourced from the finest local producers. All against the stunning backdrop of the River Derwent.

In other words, it’s your classic American smokehouse, done the Tasmanian way.

Grab the night by the horns.

Our team live to grill and smoke Tasmania’s best meats to perfection. We have homemade rubs and a curated range of sauces to complement every dish. And you can pair it all with delicious beers, playful cocktails, and wines from around the globe. We pride ourselves on down-to-earth hospitality that makes you feel right at home. Each time we have dined at Longhorn (and it's been quite a few!) the food has been outstanding. I've loved that the menu has changed, but there are still some staples to come back to. Favourites from our dining experience this time were the Green Salad and the Warm Texas Brownie - add it to your list!

Food was very good- service left a lot to be desired- brought wrong bottle of wine twice! Staff need better training- very little confidence…

Our greeter (apologies I did not get his name) was fantastic! As it was our first time he explained where the food is sourced from and how the meat is cooked. Went through the menu and during the meal came over to see how everything was. He was fantastic!

It was my wife and anniversary I had the half ribs a salad while my wife had brisket and slaw. The food was excellent and I would eat there again.

Food and drink was very nice however we were left disappointed this experience (having attended Longhorn before) as we had a 3 hours dinner sitting with mains and dessert but we only ever experienced being offered for drinks including water once at the start of the sitting. Our second round of drinks only came after 2 hours when we asked for the menu for desserts and drink when our mains plates were being cleared. However at all times staff were polite and not rude. Atmosphere was nice but staff were quiet and needing vibrancy for a busy prime time Night.

This was our 2nd meal at Longhorn over a couple of years and again the food was exceptional. We were a little disappointed that the “condiment menu’ was no more but this did not take away from the quality of the steaks. The service was a little slow but the staff were very friendly and attentive and the meal was great value. Overall a very solid 4 stars.
