Louie’s by the Bay is a modern Italian steakhouse located on the waterfront along picturesque Mariners Mile in Newport Beach. This is my favorite restaurant in Newport Beach. Although its a waterfront location, they have a temporary enclosure on the patio that allows you to see the boat traffic, but insulates from the cold temperature. That combined with the radiant heat on the patio keeps it nice and cozy. The food is outstanding, I had the crispy lasagna, and it was great. The Manhattans were great, as was the wine I selected, a Daou Cab Franc by the glass, which was reasonably priced and blended well with the dish. My dinner partner and I had a memorable time, topped off with a delicious dessert, and a photo of us two at the entrance, which is a perfect background for a picture. The only downside was the parking was full when we arrived at 6:30, but we were directed to the next door valet, who parked us with no issue. The restaurant was crowded but not cramped, as there's plenty of space to move around inside the restaurant. Very highly recommend if you like steak and italian food, and of course, who doesn't?

I’ve gone here many times and always enjoyed it. This time was different. The chicken parmigiana arrived lukewarm. The service was poor. I think our party didn’t order enough food like appetizers and sides so the waiter ignored us. I hope things are better next time. Won’t give up yet on this place.

Hosts were rude. Server was fine but not what you would expect at this price level of restaurant. Generally speaking, not sure if it’s an unpleasant place to work but the lack of “smiles” was evident.

We've been to Louie's many times. Something was wrong last night. Our server was great, but our food order (table of six) took over an hour. Salad was very weak and the chicken was just OK!

I took my friend to dinner there for their birthday and the whole experience was amazing! The food was delicious and the service was on top! I highly recommend it if you’re looking to go for a celebration or date!
