We stayed at the Fairmont Banff Springs and decided to try dinner at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise to see if we wanted to stay there next time we come to town. The meal started out well with a semi-speedy welcome and drink order taken by our waiter. It took awhile to get back for our order, but that did not seem to take that long. We were enjoying the view, and our conversation. My husband ordered an entree and discussed it with our waiter at length. He, also, ordered a soup. I ordered a salad and mussels/clams. The waiter forgot to put in my husband’s soup. This caused a delay on our first course. Then, we waited for well over an hour for the second course. My mussels were brought by a manager. It was a tiny portion compared to several tables nearby that ordered the same thing. We kept trying to grab our waiter to check on my husband’s order. After 20 minutes, we found him. He had no recollection of my husband’s order and did not turn it in. We are, now, two hours into what should have been an hour meal with no food for my husband. It took another 30 minutes to locate the manager and try to rectify what happened. They wound up comping our meal and validating our parking. It was a disappointing situation. I would not return without advance knowledge there was a big change in procedures. For a crowded high-end resort, the service and staff were not up to the task.
