My wife and son and I were in York for a special weekend, as I had never been to York before. My wife had been to Lucia's a few times before and recommended that we all go there as it was good, so I booked a table in the restaurant for us around 2 - 3 weeks prior to us going, we were all looking forward to it. We arrived at Lucia's about 15 minutes early and was told our table wasn't ready, so it was fine, we waited on the seating area outside, more people came and were taken to a table that had a booking at the same time as us, but we were still happy to wait and after around 25 minutes we were told our table was ready. We were taken upstairs, (not to the restaurant) and seated at what looked and felt like a breakfast bar in a kitchen and we were sat on bar stools where our feet couldn't touch the ground. It was clear that the upstairs was the cocktail bar as it was full of younger women, all very loud and the language was quite bad, my son and I were the only two males in the area where we were put. It was quite dark, the music was also quite loud and there were no condiments on our table. We asked to be moved but we're told no, our food was adequate and rather bland. It was an experience my wife was very keen on showing us the same experience she had, had in the past but felt let down and was very disappointed. I'm afraid that bad experience has made us decide not to return.

I'm sorry to hear of your most recent experience as it is never our intention for guests to leave feeling this way.
It's unfortunate that your table/ seating area didn't match your expectations. Here at Lucia we believe all areas of our restaurant are equally warm and inviting but I can understand why noisy tables would impact your experience. We encourage guests to specify seating preferences during booking, but I apologise we weren’t able to move you on this occasion due to prior bookings, particularly during a peak time.
