Mamakas Taverna is an elegant 85-seat Greek taverna on Ossington Ave. Owner Thanos Tripi brings a fresh, authentic approach to Aegean food, offering classical Greek dishes against a contemporary canvas. Each plate is thoughtfully crafted to evoke the way Thanos’ grandmother cooked, inviting guests to explore the Greece he grew up with through food, art and music.

Meant to mimic an open market, the room is built of white concrete blocks creating an effect similar to the stucco seen throughout Greece. Mamakas is a nod to heritage, history and family memories – the daily trip to the market for ripe and fragrant tomatoes. Visiting a trusted butcher for fresh paithakia, and the local fish monger for the daily catch.

Recipes passed down through generations. Honest Greek fare with a modern twist. Designed to share. Everything just as Thanos’ family has done through the ages.

    Mamakas is an absolute gem! The vibe of the restaurant was fantastic, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that made our evening even more special. The food was nothing short of delicious—every dish was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about all the dishes on the menu, which made our dining experience even better. My party of four opted for the Chef Tasting Menu at $75 per person, and it was worth every penny. It allowed us to enjoy a little bit of everything they had to offer, and each dish was better than the last. If you’re looking for a place that combines amazing food, great ambiance, and excellent service, I highly recommend Mamakas. We’ll definitely be back!

    We had the chef's menu which was awesome as we've never been there. Everything was delicious and beautiful. Server was great....helped us choose a bottle of wine. The decor and ambiance was perfect. Loved the colors and lights in the back. It was a bit noisy but it's a popular place and it's a casual atmosphere so I get it. We will return

    Great experience. Excellent food and excellent service…a bit on the pricey side but the quality was there to justify it. Wine list was almost all expensive greek (not many options below $100 bottle) offerings. Maybe a few more options?

    Exceptional experience! The food was phenomenal - we got 2 dips, horiataki salad, kalamari + shrimp. All the ingredients are so fresh - literally mouth watering! Our server was A+++++. She got our vibe, provided perfect wine recommendations and helped create a very memorable evening. One of the best spots in TO!

    Awesome food and our server was lovely, super attentive and made my birthday very special. My party all had the prixe fix. Gives great variety and ended with chocolate mousse and ice cream dessert. Both awesome!
