Manta is the signature restaurant of the iconic Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and has breathtaking views of the Kohala Coast. The menu is a curation of Pacific Rim cuisine with seasonal, local, and sustainably-produced ingredients.
Chef Bryan Nagao has gained formidable reputation in the international food community. He was once described by American media as "the most notable figures in rendering Modern Asian cuisine in the Northern hemisphere". The creativity permeating his cuisine stems from the diversity of his culinary background. Bryan's cuisine is a multi-faceted reflection of his Hawai'i Island birthplace, his Japanese ancestry, and decades spent in the finest restaurants in Hong Kong and Taipei.

The food was very overpriced for what you get and I was not impressed. The flavors were bland and seafood was overcooked. We ended up spending almost $500 and I was much happier with a meal I got at a roadside barbecue stand for $60…Save the money and go for cocktails to watch the sunset and see the manta rays from the viewing platform.

Exceptional experience from start to finish. Restaurant is in a beautiful location, interior is lovely. Staff was warm, friendly and delivered great service. Can’t wait to return! Pro tip: reserve for sunset viewing.

Man O man has the Mants Gone down hill. I brought a party of 5 nothing looked appetizing, the menu was confusing and limited. Appetizers were not properly presented. I ordered a foie gras which came in a bowl, no toast, cracker just a little lonely foie gras. Just cut and eat? Now that Marriot has taken over it's crap. Should have known.

Our second time dining at Manta this trip! Such a great experience the first AND second meals we had! Michael the manager was great again! Part of our meal service was provided by James and was outstanding and our main server was great as well. You cannot beat Manta for ambiance, the view is incredible, the food outstanding and the service. Thank you Manta for a very special experience!

We have always enjoyed coming to Manta but our recent visit was a relevation! Chef Nagau has elevated the food here to something truly special. The starter of kaua'i shrimp with hamakua mushrooms and curry was outstanding, while the ravioli with local farmed abalone was a special treat. A meuniere sauce on a local catch of kampachi was a classic twist on a local speciality. The service was wonderful and the manager stopped by for a delightful chat. Together with the beautiful setting overlooking the palm trees and the ocean -- an amazing experience overall!
