These principles are mirrored in Hawaiian culture and MARA Restaurant & Bar celebrates this connection by highlighting the historical cuisines of modern day Greece, Italy, and beyond while working in harmony with the bounty of ingredients from Hawaii’s plentiful and revered āina, from mauka to makai. Central to MARA’s culinary journey is a rotating fresh market seafood list where guests are invited to select their preferred fish and preparation inspired by the various cuisines that encompass the Mediterranean Basin. The menu was simply an outstanding selection of the best Mara has to offer, and with the wine pairings by sommelier Kale Furuya, resulted in an incredible value. Hana Hou!

Meeting a friend for lunch. I was soo disappointed! I had been to Mara once for a group dinner a bout 5 months before & it was delicious. I was craving the zucchini chips I’d had before & saw online yesterday. But when we ordered them the server said they haven’t had them for months but never updated the online menu. Our server was very patient with us while we took our time deciding on wine as well as entrees. She even brought us a sip to help us decide which wine to order. We both decided on the snapper sandwich. It came really fast and mine was gross ! It was a thin triangle end piece and it still had the skin on. When I scraped the skin off it was so thin it was just batter and soaking in tartar sauce. I should have sent it back but I hadn’t eaten breakfast & I was starving so I ate it. I also had French fries with it and they were good. My friend had the side salad that looked delicious but she said the many cherry tomatoes were bitter & tainted the flavor. Everything but the food was great.

First time at Mara.. we were excited but the whole experience was underwhelming at best. Appetizer came out very fast but dinner took about 40-50 minutes to come. Food was mediocre, def not worth the price. They forgot our side order…. We didn’t bother asking for them because we were over it and wanted to leave. Had to ask for our check and nobody came to check in so we just paid via QR code and waited around so we could notify someone that’s how we paid before just leaving. Would not go back.

Everything on the meze menu was delicious! Topped off with a very nice (and nicely priced) bottle of lambrusco we had a lovely lunch. Unfortunately the restaurant also appears serve as the coffee shop for the hotel which impacts the ambience and also the menu offerings. Maybe it’s better at dinner?

Last minute find. Super delish. Best pita hot and fresh. They prepared and presented my Paper Plane cocktail as I have had in too bars all around the world.

The food was phenomenal. We were 5 in our group and all were pleasantly surprised with the service, food and drinks. My husband always has a cocktail request that is not on the menu. They did not disappoint.

Mara is a unique dining experience. From the food to the decor, the restaurant is truly one of a kind. The service could be a tad quicker, but it's a European restaurant so I take it to be par for the course.
