Chef Marcello Lombardo - INSPIRED BY FOOD AND DRIVEN BY A DREAM
Born in the City of Delights, or more commonly known as Palermo, Italy, Marcello fell in love with cooking from a very young age. Influenced by the crystal clear water, the flavours of the culturally rich air and a little encouragement from his mother, he went on to receive professional training from Milan and owned a restaurant on the Adriatic Sea. Now for over 20 years he's brought his joy of Southern Italian cooking to Vancouver. Marcello's is a neighbourhood gem on Commercial Drive in the heart of little Italy set for any occasion.

                                                    Great pizza and fun family restaurant. Noise level is high so conversation is a challenge, but ambiance is good. Service is fine, the place is humming. It's a good idea to book as it was busy when we arrived at 5:15pm. Price is mid range and suitable for the type of restaurant. We traditionally go here after the East Van Panto. Make a nice wrap to the Christmas season.

                                                    Love the food and dining experience. Very family friendly. Prompt, efficient and courteous service. The sound of happy families and social groups just adds to the atmosphere. My favs. are any of the seafood pasta dishes and focaccia bread… yum!

                                                    I hadn't been back since my mother who was the pasta chef for many years there passed away. We decided to bring some family friends there and just like it had been in the past, the entire evening was really lovely. The owner, Marcello has always been kind to my family and his staff just like back then, wonderful! Truly captured a fun evening with great food, excellent cocktails, and amazing friends to connect and share with. If you haven't been yet, it's a definite MUST on the Drive!

                                                    They asked us “are you leaving soon” immediately after finishing our meal while we were still chatting. It was 715 and we had a 530 reso. They needed our table for another reservation. I’ve never in my life been asked if I’m going to be leaving soon lol bad service but food was really good

                                                    It had been a couple years since we had been at Marcelo’s and I’m happy to say it is still the same! The food is excellent, the service was very good and personable! I look forward to our next chance to get back!

                                                    Although we came at a very busy time, our server was clearly experienced, the kitchen obviously skilled and the ambiance naturally uplifting. I recommend a reservation.
