Opened in 1991, Max a Mia was named “Best New Restaurant” by Connecticut Magazine in its first year, and “top-grossing restaurant in its size” by Restaurant Hospitality. The restaurant is now in the good hands of Executive Chef Bob Peterson, who has brought an exciting new energy to the restaurant.

Max A Mia is the quintessential Italian experience in the Greater Hartford area. It also continues to garner awards and accolades. Featuring a traditional Italian menu, it utilizes an authentic brick oven that produces stone pies with unmatched flavor. Traditional veal, pork and pasta dishes, as well as inventive risotto offerings, set the mood for desserts including tiramisu and white chocolate polenta cake.

Greeted warmly, seated right away. Excellent food - fresh and flavorful. Service was quick and friendly. Really enjoyed the festive environment.

There were four of us for dinner. We each had a different meal. All were very good to excellent. Service was great. Everyone enjoyed his or her meal.

Max a Mia is always consistent. I order the same thing every time I go and it’s good. I also like sitting in the bar at a booth because I think it’s more intimate and quiet.

The olives, bread and roasted garlic that was brought to the table were excellent. The Tuscan salad was excellent too. The homemade pappardelle with the Bolognese was a little pasty. The coconut gelato was delicious and the service was very good. It was a little noisy for us, but it may not be considered noisy for most people. I’ve been here several times and always enjoyed it.

We are long time patrons and were meeting friends for lunch. We had a lot to catch up on and Max was the perfect place. Low noise level on a weekday afternoon, excellent pumpkin soup and kudos to our server, Genesis.
