Meatmaiden is one hell of a steakhouse. Bringing you the best barbecue and grill in Melbourne, our large and energetic basement restaurant and bar and down-to-earth staff make us the perfect CBD venue for intimate dinners, work lunches, special occasions or functions.

We're part steakhouse, part smokehouse - with a unique and eclectic mix of premium steaks and smoked meats. We've been fine-tuning that approach for the last ten years to bring you the best meat around - dry-ageing select local cuts like O'Connor rib eye, tending the fire to smoke grass-fed short ribs over ironbark and pairing with signature dishes like our lobster mac cheese.

Our carefully-curated wine list focuses on some great Australian winemakers, with six taps of craft beer and quirky cocktails completing the line up.

                                                                      If you want a review of the steaks at Meat Maiden, scroll on. I didn’t order steak…which is perhaps akin to going to Red Rooster and not ordering chicken. I went for the miso cauliflower, perhaps not the first choice of most diners. But I made our reservation because I knew my mega-carnivorous husband would love it. And he did. So yes, the food was excellent. Go for the food. But waaaaaaaay better than the food were the staff. Unlike the current trend for waitstaff to make it obvious they’d rather be anywhere than taking your food order, MM staff all genuinely looked like they wanted to be there. They were joyful, engaging and had each other’s backs. They worked together like a well oiled machine and it was fun and heart warming to watch. I’d go back for the chips. For the crème caramel, for the cauliflower and the donut. My husband would go back for the burnt ends and the pork belly and scallops. But most of all, we’d go back for Nathan and the rest of the staff.

                                                                      My boyfriend and I come here every year for our anniversary, we love it so much. The food is always amazing. The people who work there are so lovely and welcoming. Genuinely the perfect experience.

                                                                      First time visiting meat maiden and the experience was just brilliant. The table service was attentive and informative when making decisions on the menu. We did the meat me menu which was a very good amount of portions for the 4 people we dined with. The way the meals flowed out was well timed. The food was seasoned well and cooked to perfection every bite was savoured and very delicious. Will definitely be returning to this venue as we really enjoyed it.

                                                                      Delish food, steak cooked to perfection! Sides we ordered were yum. Lobster Mac cheese, cauliflower, chips, greens were great. Cook wine list. Terrific staff. Fast service once ordered which was good as we had a fairly late post theatre booking.
