Medium Rare is an award-winning, iconic, full-service restaurant famous for its French-influenced steak and frites (fries). The restaurant offers a three-course prix fixe meal, featuring a flavorful fresh mixed green salad, artisan rustic bread, hand-cut fries, and the main course—scrumptious Coulotte steak topped with a secret sauce. Arrived on time for our 7pm reservation. Hostess told us that there were 4 tables ahead of us but could not give us an estimate of how long the wait was going to be. I asked whether it could be up to an hour and she shrugged her shoulders and said it could be but she doesn’t know. Very disappointed at how un organized the process went. The place was mobbed when we arrived, and there were multiple parties ahead of us that had 6:45 reservations who were told the same thing. You might want to limit how many reservations you allow for specific time slots and or limit your walkins. 😡 Needless to say we walked out.

Service was not friendly, ad a first timers we were not explain the dynamic. Food was cold, portions small. Sauce and bread were good

They do one thing, and they do it very well. Terrific aervice. Apple pie was wonderful.

They never asked about allergies and when questioned where very ambiguous. Especially with the dessert that they do not make in house. Also the manager was very argumentative and I had to ask her several times to allow me to speak without interruption.

The whole experience at Medium Rare was definitely unique. Outside Parking at the Arsenal Yards can be a game - just get it over with and use one of their garages. From the singular menu (and watching the chefs prepare the same things over and over and over again) to the wonderfully pungent sourdough bread to the generously coiffed desserts to the odd "learn to speak French" lessons being piped into the sound insulated bathroom to the eventual Bazooka Joe parting gifts it was all something to just be present with and enjoy. The bread, salad, fries, gravied meat, more fries and more gravied meat, and desserts were all wonderful. The cocktails listed on the wall could be "mocktailed" so that is thoughtful. Our individual service was a bit slow, as we came into an almost empty room, and watched people eat and leave before we were done until we were left almost alone. Luck of the draw I suppose. In all, a great unique dining experience, but the whole thing had me thinking I was on some secret dystopian game show. Just embrace it, and don't get too caught up in thinking about it and you will be happy.

Menu is simply three things that come together, and the price is reasonable if you discover that they’re likely to bring you seconds after you finish your first plate which is not that large. Music was a little louder than we usually like and the wine selection limited and just OK. It’s good to see a new place open like this so I don’t wanna throw shade, but we are not likely to return for the one thing they serve at least for a few months not because it wasn’t good, but because there are just other food options out there. I hope the place sticks as it’s an interesting concept pretty well executed and we need more options like it in the local area. I won’t hold it against them that they brought spoons not forks to eat cake and pie and no cream with the coffee service, but those are trivial things and they just opened two weeks ago. The desserts were more than we could finish and the dinner seconds along with the dessert came home with us so we got another snack or lunch for the price of the one dinner which was a little more than we had anticipated spending.

Went for brunch and tried the famous steak frites. Orange juice did not taste freshly squeezed. Steak and frites portion was small. Steak quality was fair. Doubt I will try again

After much hype from my Granddaughter, I was looking forward to dining at Medium Rare. Been there, don’t ever need to go back.

Enjoyed our dinner very much! The rustic bread is served warm and complimented the salad well. Steak and fries were delicious and we loved having a second serving. We ordered the chocolate layer cake to share for dessert, also really good. And our server, Juliana, was friendly and helpful. Overall, great value and a new favorite for sure!
