I’m happy to report that Metate exceeded all of our expectations. ### Ambiance and Setting From the moment we arrived at Metate, we were struck by the inviting atmosphere. The restaurant’s white stucco entryway led us into a beautiful open-air dining area, shaded by trees and illuminated with soft, ambient lighting. The space had a rustic yet modern feel, with an open-concept kitchen where we could watch the chefs work their magic. The cozy vibe was perfect for our group—a mix of friends looking to enjoy a relaxed but elevated dining experience. As we settled into our seats, the warmth and charm of the setting immediately put us at ease, and it felt like the perfect backdrop for a memorable evening. ### Culinary Experience The food at Metate was nothing short of outstanding. We decided to order a huge platter of tacos to share as a group, and it was a fantastic choice. The platter was filled with a variety of tacos, including their signature “Tacos Baja,” which featured blue corn tortillas filled with flaky white fish. The fish was encased in a squid ink batter, adding a unique twist to the dish. The tacos were topped with finely shredded pickled cabbage, creating a perfect balance of flavors and textures. It was visually striking and, most importantly, absolutely delicious. The variety of tacos allowed us to try a little bit of everything, and each one was better than the last. The tacos were paired with sides that elevated the meal even further, and it was clear that Metate takes pride in using fresh, high-quality ingredients.

   Such a great place. The outside environment is excellent. The place has such a good vibe. There were 10 of us at a center table. The service was good. Slow sometimes but overall good. The food is creative and delish. Lots of options on cocktails because they have a full bar. There was a saxophone player the entire time. This was great initially, but seemed to get a bit louder throughout our 2 hour stay to the point of being intrusive. Also, he took no breaks. Still, love this place and will visit on my next visit.

   Everything was beyond outstanding. Food, drink, service….. But what sets it above, the service team seems to be having as much fun as we were. Love the owner coming by our table several times (the dog). He was very sweet. LOVE this place!!!!!!!!

   Excellent in so many ways. Beautiful outdoor restaurant and ambiance. The waiter was very nice but we felt a bit rushed as he talked very fast and it felt rehearsed and almost impossible to hear him or each other. Not sure why they had to play such loud and mostly obnoxious music. Too bad because the food and drinks are very good.

   Great service and ambiance. The bar, lighting hanging from the trees and the space is fabulous. Food is very good and always has a different twist. Wish there was more fish and chicken options.

   Very cool setting and ambience. The service was spectacular! Margaritas were tasty but a bit weak. Wine selection was expensive but the wine was delicious. My husband & I shared an octopus taco starter, it was great. For main I had the seafood risotto, I found it really salty and overcooked. My husband had the picanha steak, he found it under seasoned but the sides were good. We shared the chocolate cake for dessert and it was delicious. The dog Dados was our favourite part of the visit, he is a sweetheart - we are big dog lovers though. Overall would recommend the restaurant but not the mains we tried.

   It is a wonderful place- fun, lively, and good food. The beef ribs, octopus, tacos, and risotto were outstanding. The fish was not as tasty. Our family enjoyed the evening tremendously.

    Food was creative and delicious, and the service was great from the moment we arrived. Diego had wonderful vibes and was knowledgeable about every dish. Will definitely be back.
