A British restaurant and bar, Millie’s Lounge serves classic dishes alongside a selection of English sparkling wines, craft ales and seasonal cocktails.

From Monday to Saturday, you can enjoy traditional afternoon tea, set amidst the Grand Banking Hall. Enjoy cakes, scones and a selection of sandwiches with a choice of tea.

Please be advised that that Poultry Street is Entry only and Princes Street Exit only. Bookings can't be made for only drinks. Registered guide dogs only are permitted in public areas or restaurant of The Ned. Children are welcome in the restaurant with last booking at 6pm; seated up to 8pm. We will try to accommodate pushchairs where possible but please be aware there may not be space at the table. If you would like to request a highchair or for further information please contact the restaurant directly.

Please note The Ned reserves the right to refuse or cancel any reservation either ahead or upon arrival.

    This is the third year we have come here for Christmas Eve and it’s got progressively worse. This year, no offer of the festive menu, no crackers on the table - we had to ask for them. My chair had a massive rip in the fabric and someone’s snotty tissue shoved down the side. Service was poor, had multiple waiters yet none could top up our wine without instruction. Slow between course yet still charged £40 service! We love The Ned and come often, but will probably go somewhere else for Christmas Eve next year.

    The setting was beautiful, lovely atmosphere at The Ned. The disappointment was the service. A number of staff were clearly fed up for whatever reason, none of them seemed to want to be there. Our waiter was happy, but we had to wait too long to be served and had to remind them of things throughout. The lady on the front desk looked totally fed up and rolled her eyes at something happening in front of us. Not the service you would expect from a £400 bill for afternoon tea!

    Had a lovely meal with the family visiting from abroad. The service was absolutely perfect and food was delicious. We shared the porterhouse steak and was great quality. Great ambiance for Christmas :)

    We had afternoon tea, my friend received items that I didn’t. I was missing the mince pie and had 1 less sandwich. I also received 2 of the same desserts. I should’ve said something but we didn’t really see our waiter until we were asked to vacate the table as our time was up. The table wasn’t occupied for 1hr 20m after we were asked to move to the bar. Very disappointing considering our bill was 200.00 for 2 people

    I love the Ned and have eaten here many times, I stayed overnight this time and had breakfast at Millie’s lounge. Service was terrible, waiter appeared very grumpy and also tried to rush us to finish before he realised we had the table for a full 2 hours. I ordered the kedgeree which was dry and tasteless, would not recommend this dish, I’ve never had a bad experience at the Ned but this morning was disappointing

    Very disappointing. I’ve never been served in a restaurant where the waiter takes the menu off you and marks your order in front of you whilst demanding you order all 3 courses at once. The food tasted like a school dinner, it was deeply disappointing. I’ve had better food as a pub lunch. I won’t be returning.

    Food was average for the £80 per head 3 course menu. Turkey was ok but nothing bettte than your average pub, roast potatoes not particularly golden. Not much gravy. I had Christmas pudding which was dry and seemed reheated too many times, Expensive lunch for little enjoyment. We were told our table was needed but we were waiting for our glasses to filled with the champagne sat in the cooler. We didn’t pay the £58 service charge!
