Mimi’s Bakehouse is a second-generation family business established in Edinburgh in 2010, when Michelle Phillips sold her family home to open a bakery café in Leith. We have gone on to build a local success story brand that gives people a ‘hug when they walk in the door’ as the original café has since doubled in size and the business has gained five more shops, a successful website selling cakes online and a concession at Archerfield Walled Garden. We also opened an industrial bakery in March 2020, out of which most online trade is produced for fulfilment. Mimi’s Bakehouse has become one of Edinburgh’s best-loved bakeries and an award-winning brand which is a well-known “feel good” place to visit, while remaining small enough to go the extra mile and try new things.
We serve brunch, afternoon tea, coffee and cake.

The ultimate treat! Afternoon Tea brings together the best of Mimi’s Bakehouse classics, from handmade scones with clotted cream and jam to fluffy cupcakes and nostalgic traybakes served alongside a curated list of tea from Edinburgh’s Eteaket Tea. Our award-winning Afternoon Tea experience is currently available at Mimi’s Bakehouse, Leith and Corstorphine seven days a week. Due to high levels of demand, booking is recommended. We require 48 hours for all bookings. Make it extra special with a glass of prosecco, a locally sourced gin and tonic or a speciality coffee from Edinburgh’s own Machina Coffee.

Our seating was a little cramped as it was very close to another table. The breakfast roll was massive and wasn't all eaten so it could have been smaller and therefore maybe a bit cheaper.

Upon arriving we were taken to our table by a young teenage girl with blonde hair who was the front of house staff, she wasn’t very friendly or welcoming. Another member of staff came to take our hot drinks order she was friendly (woman wearing glasses). Our hot drinks arrived and a short time after our afternoon tea. I explained that I had requested in the online booking that the cheese sandwiches weren’t to have onion chutney on them as they were the only ones I would be eating. It took another two attempts to bring out the correct order. By this time we had to ask the staff for more hot water as our tea was cold. The young member of staff looked bored and like she didn’t want to be at work it was quite off putting. It took a while to use the toilets due to a queue and there only being one toilet for baby changing/ladies. My mum went to use the toilet and nearly slipped because the floor was soaking with water due to mums washing their babies and splashing water everywhere. When it came to paying we weren’t asked if we enjoyed our afternoon tea or even acknowledged when leaving. It was supposed to be a treat but was really disappointed.

I was very disappointed with leith mimi's, French toast was very dry the bacon was so hard we couldn't eat it, I took an 82yrs old gentleman for his birthday, he was very disappointed but far to polite to say, staff were friendly, they were the main reason I never complained, although it took about 15 mins to take our order, there were workmen replacing the main door, we couldn't sit in front for the noise of drills, lost the whole mimi's atmosphere, felt I had let the gentleman down, I will go back to mimi's but not leith sorry.

Excellent food at Mimi's. Great service. Their cakes etc for sale as takeaway were a bit on the pricey side though.

My coffee took 20minutes to arrive, then when the other guests arrived and ordered their coffee/food was eaten before their coffees arrived. My partner ordered a skinny flat white but this was not what arrived. For an organisation as popular as Mimis is and that should epitomise quality I felt this was somewhat lacking today.

This was a birthday treat for my mum and we both had an amazing time. We chose the cocktail afternoon tea and it was so tasty! We ate every bit and the cocktails were lovely. We were attended to just the right amount and the staff were so friendly. It was a lovely little cafe and it was our first time here we will definitely be back. Thanks for making it a lovely day! Oh and the bday cupcake was a lovely touch :)

I've been to Mimi's before in Leith. We went yesterday for my daughter's 13th birthday. The service was really poor. It did not appear to be too busy however we were not given menus until we asked for them after 10 minutes waiting and trying to get attention of staff. The staff were quite friendly but kept getting our order wrong and we had to repeatedly remind them what we had asked for ask where my husband's order was and then my order was messed up. The table next to us got up and left after being repeatedly ignored as well. It was really disappointing as I'd hoped it would have been a lovely visit but sadly we were just keen to pay and go. I had to go up to pay as staff were either in the back or standing around the area where the cakes were.
