Extremely disappointed with our visit to Mito. Had such high-hopes. Went for a 65th birthday celebration and requested a nice quiet table location which they provided, but that's all the went right. Amanda our server was virtually perfect but should have forewarned us of the cost of drinks and portion served.
We first ordered drinks. My girlfriend a glass of wine and me, a whiskey neat. The wine had a price but the whiskey didn't so I figured between $20-$35 for a neat pour. Then we ordered the Dim Sum sampler for $18 which wasn't too bad. 4 different dim sum (2 ea) that were ok but nothing spectacular. For dinner, she ordered the Mongolian grill with shrimp, $26 + $4 for the shrimp, which was actually a good value because it came with 10 shrimp and a small bowl of rice. I ordered the Chilean sea bass with tomato compote and sautéed spinach ($45). When the meal came, my mouth dropped open at the size of my portion. The portion of spinach and the 3 pieces of fish I got were the size of a half dollar. It wasn't even 1 piece of fish, it was 3 tiny pieces FOR $45, and the tomato compote was 3 grape tomatoes that were stewed and plated ice cold, along with the cold spinach. The fish was warm but not hot. I was virtually done with my meal before my girlfriend placed her dish on top of her rice. In my 66 years of life, I have never been that disappointed with a meal nor ripped off so royally. If you've ever read some of my other reviews, you'll know I'm generous with compliments.
Also, while other patrons were being serenaded with birthday wishes from the wait staff, nothing ever came of our wishes or complementary dessert, which I really didn't care about. Then to add insult to injury, the bill came. $181.00+ without tip. I NEARLY FELL OFF MY CHAIR. The whiskey was $65 for the 1.5 oz pour. I could have bought a really nice bottle of bourbon for that price. It's the first time I ever left a restaurant hungrier than I went in. Don't go.
